Department Summary: 

The mandate of the Compliance Department is to ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements affecting mutual fund and investment dealers as well as insurance and financial planning firms.

Within this scope are adherence to rules, policies, and by-laws of the self-regulatory organizations (CIRO, CSF), provincial securities commissions, and insurance commissions/councils. The Financial Planning Standards Council and the Institute of Financial Planning. The department works closely with Distribution Leadership and other management to develop appropriate corporate policies, identifies, and promotes good business practices, executes business review programs to monitor sales practices, and manages client complaint resolution processes.

 

Position Summary: 

The Senior Compliance Specialist is responsible for the oversight of the advisor’s business activities and executing various compliance programs such as reviews of the insurance business practice and implementing supervisory programs. Work involves conducting analysis of various sources of information including file documentation, reports, audit procedures, and interviews to identify trends or issues. The Senior Compliance Specialist is responsible for identifying appropriate corrective actions, communicating recommendations to affected parties, and following up to ensure that corrective actions are effectively implemented and well documented. 

 

Duties Include: 

Oversight of the advisor’s practice with an emphasis on the supervision of insurance, financial planning, mortgage, and banking solutions.

Lead Compliance Practice Review programs (develop an action plan, execute the program, monitor to resolve issues, and report on results)

Provide guidance and direction to the field including recommendations on remedial actions, including meetings or conference calls, training presentations, and exception approvals, to assist with the resolution of deficiencies. 

Prepare management reports on completed programs for distribution to senior management, field directors, and/or regulators. Monitor progress on corrective actions. 

Mentor and provide guidance to junior staff on unusual, sensitive, and escalated cases, determine appropriate corrective actions.   

 

Qualifications: 

Minimum 5 years of experience in a financial services environment preferably with relevant licensed experience in insurance, investment industry, or in a compliance-related role.

Completion of a post-secondary degree in a relevant business discipline.

Completion of or commit to complete the Life Insurance Course (LLQP), and the Certified Financial Planners Program (CFP or equivalent program in Quebec) within a specified timeframe.

In-depth knowledge of financial planning strategies 

In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry, including an understanding of regulatory requirements of the Insurance councils, CIRO, and other regulators 

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and internet research

Proficiency in the French language (speaking, reading, and writing).

Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English. 

Comfortable with public speaking and/or presenting to large groups.

Director, Reporting and Business Analytics

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, IG Securities Distribution, the Director, Reporting and Business Analytics is accountable for all insights, analytics and metrics tracked and reported on for IG Wealth Management. This includes, but is not limited to: Executive KPI Dashboards, Business Insights Dashboards, and Business Unit Reporting. As the leader of a team, this individual will be responsible for guiding the creation of business insights dashboards and other methods of sharing insights and reports. The incumbent will be responsible for finding innovate ways to combine data, technology, and other methodologies to discover and deliver valuable insights for IG Wealth Management

 

DUTIES INCLUDE:

Lead the transformation of IG Wealth Management Business Insights reporting and analytics through the development of key insights and partnering with the Data Services team.

Identify new areas of opportunity with regards to Business Insights by working with IGWM business leaders and key stakeholders. Mine data to identify patterns and trends. Determine best approach for utilizing new and existing data and sharing the insights gained. 

Deliver data insights and advanced analytics to IG Operating Committee & department Heads on key KPIs to drive strategy discussions, achievement of KPIs and management of the Consultant network performance.

Participate in IGWM strategic projects and work with project Business Leads to determine how to effectively set & monitor project effectiveness KPIs.

Develop trend analysis to inform both long- and short-term business model decisions.

Using analytical tools, data, and judgement, provide decision-making support to the division in the areas of annual plan development, forecasting, financial analysis, consultant and region productivity and business reporting.

Responsible for providing confidential guidance and operational leadership to the Client & Advisor Experience leadership team on financial, business reporting and analytic matters

Provide leadership to a team of business analysts responsible for the design, implementation and management of Business insights, dashboards, and analytics.
 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS

10+ years of experience in Financial and/or Business reporting

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Business, Finance or Computer Science

Proven success leading a dynamic team of individuals who are responsible for the design, implementation and management of reporting, dashboards and analytics.

Innovative, analytical and creative thinker with demonstrated problem-solving skills.

Proven leadership, management and implementation abilities required.

Strong data/technology skills – advanced skills in access, excel, SAP HANA, agile development, financial modeling (Tableau) would be considered an asset.

CPA, CGA or CMA, CFA or MBA would be considered an asset.

DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: The Strategy Execution Office is a critical part of the Strategy, Planning and Analysis division within IGM Financial and is responsible for Strategy Formulation (activities include: analysis/assessment of environments, strategic plan development, identification of key initiatives), Strategy Execution, Operating Planning & Action Steps (activities include: business case development, prioritization, authorization, portfolio management) & Evaluation/Measurement (activities include: value/benefits realization framework, tracking, oversight, KPIs). 

 

The SEO works collaboratively with leadership teams across the IGM companies ensuring activities, initiatives, spend & resources are aligned with strategic priorities and objectives, and responsive to the evolving needs of our clients and the business.

 

POSITION SUMMARY: As a valued member of the Strategy Execution Office team your central responsibilities will include:

Supporting SEO processes by gathering and analysing project & financial information to monitor, assess and report on strategic initiatives portfolio health and performance, identifying trends and patterns in data that are subsequently used to inform decisions / action steps;

Analysing and preparing reporting, including strategic initiatives dashboards, quarterly/monthly reviews;

Responsible for meeting scheduling, logistics and support of SEO led committees and meetings – agenda preparation, meeting material preparation, coordination, circulation and upload to meeting portal;

Proactively identifying issues and challenges in team processes while proposing solutions for improvement, enhancing the effectiveness, efficiency and productivity of the team;

Embracing change and using change as an opportunity to further business objectives;

Collaborating effectively with internal/external departments to support SEO and Expense Management business objectives. Maintain relationships with key stakeholders through sharing of knowledge and best practices and liaise with all levels and departments across the companies;

Supporting other SEO and Expense Management activities and initiatives, as required;

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum three years of experience in a coordinator or project-based role, preferably in the financial services industry

Advanced PC skills including PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook

Post-secondary education in a relevant business discipline and designation/certification in business administration, business management or related fields

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others effectively

Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision

Proactive, organized and self-motivated with strong attention to detail and timelines
