The Ministry of Forests (MOF) is the province’s land manager, responsible for stewardship of Provincial Crown land, cultural and natural resources.  MOF is one of six ministries jointly responsible for managing the natural resource sector and balancing economic opportunities with environmental stewardship.   The ministry’s regional operations are structured in 23 districts within eight regions under the senior leadership of three geographically based Assistant Deputy Ministers and eight Regional Executive Directors.

ADMN O 24R – Operations Supervisor (CCOF) – (101456)

The role of Operations Supervisor is to provide leadership and guidance to staff involved in complex, independent decision-making and establishes a sound framework by ensuring operational resources and service standards are managed to deliver service excellence based on the principles of administrative law and natural justice, to ensure consistent, independent decision making.

STO-RE 24R – Great Bear Rainforest Research Officer – (101470)

The Great Bear Rainforest Research Officer works with scientists of the Coast Area Research team, in close collaboration with co-investigators at the Nanwakolas Council Society to prioritize, plan, design, and implement the interdisciplinary Coastal Experimental Watersheds (CEWs) project (as part of the GBR Research Forest) and related research and monitoring for informing Ecosystem-based Management (EBM).  The GBR Research Officer participates in field and office activities to (1) develop and verify methodologies for site selection for experimental studies, (2) refine methodologies and initiate collection of pre/post-treatment data for several natural resource values (e.g., forests, hydrology, wildlife) to quantify baseline ecological function and multiscale response to land management and climate change; and, (3) document and provide extension for CEWs research at operational and scientific conferences, and through online and published media.

This position provides senior professional advisory services to a program area (Coast Research) in the natural resource sector.

SPO 24R (Growth) – Youth Probation Officer – (101455)

Youth Probation Officers with the Ministry of Children and Family Development, work on multi-disciplinary teams, delivering community youth justice services to every community throughout British Columbia.  With a strong sense of collaboration, advocacy/accountability and leadership, and the commitment to affect real change, you provide services with graduated levels of intervention, supervision, and control of young persons. These services are provided collaboratively and in conjunction with the principles of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Additionally, as a Youth Probation Officer you will assist the court by conducting investigations and assuming case management responsibilities. Working collaboratively with a variety of professionals, including justice system staff, you strive to meet the needs of youth and reduce the risk of re-offending behaviour by promoting programs aimed at the prevention of youth crime. You will act as an advocate for young offenders, assisting them to accept responsibility for their actions, and arranging resources and programs. If you are a dedicated social services professional interested in a vital role that helps youth in our communities, we look forward to your application.
