STO-RE 21R – Senior Resource Technologist – (95090)

You are committed to excellence in sustainable forest management

In this position you will provide senior technical advisory services to the forest stewardship program area in the natural resource sector. You will act as a technical advisor and specialist in one or more of the following program areas; forest health, the Forest and Range Evaluation Program (FREP), Silviculture, Reporting Silviculture Updates and Land status Tracking System (RESULTS), silviculture prescriptions and stocking standard amendments, land and water referrals, Fire Management and the Land Base Investment Strategy. This position may also support other program areas within the District office on an as needed basis. 

ADMN O 24R – Area Manager Roads – (95746)

•    Bachelor’s degree in the field of civil engineering, structural engineering, construction technology, geology, geography, or project management and one (1) year related experience; OR,
•    Diploma from a recognized Institute of Technology (e.g., Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC) in the field of civil engineering, structural engineering, construction technology, geology, geography, or project management and three (3) years related experience; OR, 
•    Grade 12 (or GED) and a minimum of five (5) years related experience.
•    Valid Class 5 BC Drivers license in good standing.
•    Area Manager Roads Certificate of Completion required through BCIT and MOTI (if certification isn’t already obtained, accreditation must be achieved within 1 year of appointment).

**Related experience must include the following:
•    Experience in highway construction and/or maintenance, project management, contract management, traffic management or audit processes, procedures and practices.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
•    Area Manager Roads Certificate of Completion required through BCIT and MOTI.
**Note: Area Manager Roads Certificate of Completion through BCIT and MOTI is required to be appointed to the AO 24 level.

This is a temporary opportunity to approximately June 30, 2023.  This temporary appointment may be extended or become permanent. Upon permanent appointment, relocation to Kootenays will be required; the above locations are representative of the region.

STO 21R – Development Officer – (96550)

The Development Officer acts as a Statutory Decision Maker on development proposals within the Ministry’s jurisdiction as well as provides technical reports to Provincial Approving Officers regarding proposed subdivision applications. This position develops relationships and works closely with local governments and stakeholders in ensuring compliance with legislation and regulations, public safety, and the functional integrity of the highway system.
