Position

We are currently hiring an intern looking for a winter term position, January to April 2024 in our Toronto Office.  Candidates in an undergraduate program that will be returning to school after their internship are eligible to apply.

 

Responsibilities:

Work with lead to design, develop and maintain automated scripts.
Execute automated test suite and report on results.

What is the Position?

Reporting to the AVP, Financial Risk Management, the Senior Manager, Financial Risk Management (FRM) is an integral part of IGM Financial 2nd line of defense FRM team with focus on oversight of market, credit and liquidity/funding risks.

 

This role is part of IGM’s Risk Management Team whose mission is to provide constructive challenge, independent oversight, identification, evaluation and communication of financial risks across IGM. We are enhancing our risk management program at IGM Financial, and you will have the opportunity to use your business talents to contribute to enhancing and implementing financial risk management programs and reporting across IGM’s key business functions. 

 

Responsibilities

Foster a strong risk culture within the organization, working closely with operational units, business leaders and senior management.
Maintain ongoing awareness of developments in risk management, with an emphasis on financial risk management.
Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of the businesses, wealth and asset management industry and related risk management requirements and regulatory / legislative directives.

Prepare materials and insights for quarterly risk committees (Financial Risk Management Committee, Executive Risk Management Committee and Board Risk Committee).
Monitoring the external environment for top and evolving financial risks.
Participate in company initiatives that require financial risk expertise with a goal to identify risks and recommend/implement ongoing enhancements.

 

Experience Requirements

Minimum 5-8 years of experience in financial risk management, or a related role with a strong technical background.
Financial services industry experience preferred; wealth and asset management experience is an asset.
Strong understanding and experience with complex financial risk management techniques.
Advanced MS Excel / Power Point skills.
Ability to work collaboratively across the organization.
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks under tight deadlines and a proven ability to communicate effectively (both oral and written) with internal and external individuals at senior management levels.
Must possess the ability to work independently and effectively in a highly organized and professional manner.
Excellent communications skills (written and verbal).
A university degree in Finance, or a related discipline, and a financial designation is preferred (CFA, FRM, CA).

The Role

This role, Senior Risk Consultant, is for an experienced IT and security risk analyst who will assess, prioritize, and mitigate technology risks with controls that will protect digital assets and information across IGM. The ability to provide sound advice and guidance will be instrumental in the growth and success of the candidate in this role.

 

Key responsibilities:

Analyze the risks relating to external partners and suppliers’ technologies and systems.

Assist internal clients with identifying and validating security requirements or leading the completion of information risk assessments.

Advise Company Leadership on IT risks by providing analysis reports on Risk Management and monitoring activities.

Performing in-depth third-party risk assessments to ensure compliance with security policies and standards. Assessment types include self-assessment questionnaires and examining external audit reports (i.e., SOC 2 type 2, ISO 27001)

Plan and perform recurring security control assessments across company departments, business units and operational locations.

Providing input and recommendations on information security requirements and best practices.

Perform activities to help measure and monitor compliance with company policies, standards, and procedures.

Manage and reduce exceptions and issues by identifying and/or proposing mitigating controls and recommending additional procedures or processes.

Ensure the identification, analysis, and timely reporting of inherent and residual Technology Risk

Take on other information risk management tasks as required.

 

The following qualifications will assist the successful candidate:

5+ years on working experience in security assessments related to risk, controls, corporate security standards, control procedures, vulnerability etc.

Risk assessments, security controls definition, control procedure appropriateness, security capabilities identification.

Strong Understanding of IT and security risks, processes, controls, and ability to converse at a technical and business level.

Familiar with an keep up to date on IT and Security principles/frameworks such as NIST CSF, Cloud Controls Matrix, CIS CSC, ITIL, ISO 27001, laws, and standards.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and project management skills.

Ability to take initiative and work proactively under minimal supervision.

Able to maintain high levels of confidentiality and professionalism.

DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:

Position (details) 

This position provides high level support to the team with a focus of achieving and exceeding set standards and continuous improvement. Other functions include:

Analyze and process missed, active and outstanding compensation in relation to consultants’ income and deductions
Support coordinators with their day-to-day transactions and reports such as insurance transactions, investment products, solutions banking, asset compensation, new business, net contribution reports and consultant/associate charges
On-boarding of new members to the team and continuous training of other individuals in the team
Develop and maintain compensation templates and procedures to follow the necessary laws and regulations
Act as primarily point of contact for assistance in the coordinator team
Assists in development, writing and payroll validation
Work with other departments across the organization to ensure that consultant’s income and deduction is accurate, and pay is updated for consultants to receive their commissions

Requirements: 

Minimum 2 years of administrative experience preferably in the Financial Services industry

Strong multi-tasking and follow through abilities
High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook, Word and Excel

We are currently looking for a Senior Payroll Specialist to join our Human Resources department. This department is responsible for effective recruiting, human resource policy development and administration, performance management systems, compensation research, organizational effectiveness, benefit programs and payroll functions. 

The  Bilingual Senior Payroll Specialist is responsible for the complete, accurate and timely preparation and processing of the IGM Financial payrolls. 

 

Responsibilities include:

Timely and accurate processing of semi-monthly payrolls; for hourly and salaried employees, monthly and quarterly payrolls, including payroll reconciliations.

Preparation of various payroll reports, both standard and ad-hoc. 

Manual calculations of retroactive payments and retroactive adjustments.

Completion of Records of Employment.

Responding to internal and external inquiries, troubleshooting and resolution of issues.

 

Qualifications:

The ability to communicate verbally and written in French and English. For candidates in Quebec, proficiency in the French language (speaking, reading, and writing) is mandatory.

5+ years of experience in a computerized payroll environment. Exposure to the financial services industry would be considered an asset.

Post-secondary education diploma/certificate in a related discipline. Completion of National Payroll Institute (NPI) – PCP designation.

Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.

Excellent communication skills are essential as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality and sensitivity due to the nature of the information and client base.

The ability to work under pressure, with rigid deadlines.

Well-developed organizational and analytical skills.

SAP experience is an asset.

Position:

We are currently hiring full-time CPA Candidates. Applicants must be planning to enter the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP) to be eligible to apply.

 

Responsibilities:

In this role, you will work in a selection of our rotational departments, developing and enhancing your CPA competencies. Rotational departments include:

• Internal Audit

• Compliance

• Enterprise Risk Management

• Financial Reporting

• Property Accounting

• Expense Analysis & Reporting

• Advanced Financial Planning

• Corporate Taxation

 

Your position duties will vary based on your rotational department. Some examples of responsibilities given to our CPA Candidates include the following, as well as many other valuable hands-on opportunities:

 

• Preparing, reviewing, and analyzing various financial and management reports.

• Analyzing the impact of changes to accounting/regulatory guidelines.

• Preparing financial plans, budgets and forecasts for different business units and analyzing variances.

• Analyzing investment portfolios to ensure appropriate regulatory thresholds are met.

• Analyzing property values and the appropriateness of the valuation method.

• Assessing reporting processes/systems and recommending improvements based on stakeholder needs.

• Participating in review/analysis of key operational or performance issues and alignment to strategy.

• Participating in the process to identify, assess and monitor risks of the entity.

• Designing/updating and performing control testing procedures and/or compliance reviews and evaluating the results.

• Analyzing policies and processes with a focus on ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. • Researching tax issues related to the organization and drawing related conclusions.

• Preparing corporate tax returns and relevant working papers.

• Researching tax issues for consultant inquiries and drawing related conclusions.

• Preparing draft sections of personal tax returns to provide estimates for tax planning strategies.

• Analyzing portions of client tax returns to identify tax planning opportunities.

 

Requirements:

• You will have completed, or nearly completed, your degree as well as the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP) prerequisite courses, with a strong academic standing.

• You have strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing, and an ability to work well both independently and in a team environment.

• You have excellent interpersonal, judgment & decision-making skills.

• You are self-motivated with the ability to prioritize time-sensitive deadlines.

• You’re proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

• Fluency in French is an asset but not a requirement.
