This position develops relationships and works closely with local governments and stakeholders in ensuring compliance with legislation and regulations, public safety, and the functional integrity of the highway system.

BC Parks is responsible for the effective management of the natural, cultural and recreational values in the Province’s protected lands system. While the primary agency focus is protecting BC’s parks and protected areas, we are also responsible for developing and maintaining programs that promote positive, interactive, and educational user experiences, and building and maintaining capital infrastructure in our parks for the more than 24 million annual visitors that come to enjoy over 10,700 vehicle accessible campsites, 2,000 back country sites, a trail system of over 11,250 kilometres, and our many day use facilities.

This position reports to the Parks and Protected Areas Section Head (Section Head), and is responsible for managing a large number of Park Operator (PO) Agreements (private sector contractual agreements) within a region and which vary in term length from 1-10 years. The longer term 10 year PO Agreements provide a wide variety of services within parks and protected areas and most agreements are for services located in the front country, but agreements also exist for some marine and backcountry park locations.  These often multi-park (bundled) agreements  provide services for park visitors in campground and day use areas and include facility operation and maintenance,  revenue collection, public safety and security, provision of additional enhanced recreational  services (Service Plus), and maintaining BC Parks brand and customer quality service standards.

In this role, you will be working in a variety of settings, providing professional advice and may make decisions regarding the allocation of resources and adjudication of resource authorizations for the Natural Resource Sector.
