Position Overview:
The Senior Learning and Development Specialist will design, develop and implement strategic operational learning initiatives and key projects that are integral to our learning pillars, while also enabling innovative learning experiences for IGM Operations employees.
A key member of the Learning & Development team within Enterprise Operations Enablement, the Senior Specialist is responsible for leading the full lifecycle of operational learning and development projects, with a strong focus on instructional design and adult learning principles.
The Senior Specialist will conduct needs assessments, design and develop learning content, and implement effective learning solutions aligned with our operational projects and learning pillars (e.g., onboarding, role development, and skills enhancement). They will also facilitate workshops, drive online participant engagement, and sustain learning communities through initiatives like gamification and campaigns.
The role reports to the Senior Manager, Learning & Development, and is ideal for someone who enjoys working collaboratively, is skilled in the area of instructional design, and is eager to grow their career.
 
Responsibilities:

Instructional Design and Development – Implements learning solutions for our business partners by designing high-quality and engaging learning experiences and content, conducting needs assessments, and managing the project.

Technology Integration and Innovation – Demonstrates the use of eLearning authoring tools, and visual, digital, multimedia elements in learning design and development. Stays informed of adult learning, instructional design principles, emerging trends, accessibility standards, and learning experience design (LxD/UX). Actively integrates best practices and new approaches in L&D projects.
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication – Maintains strong relationships with business partners to ensure specific goals and business outcomes are achieved. Manages and communicates effectively with key stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of projects.

Facilitation and Engagement – Facilitates scheduled workshops and programs across various modalities – virtual, instructor-led, blended, hybrid – and fosters learner interactivity and engagement with participants. Solicits feedback for continuous improvement, drives online engagement with participants, and sustains learning communities across IGM Operations through activities and initiatives.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) – Applies DE&I principles and practices, inclusive language and accessibility standards in learning content that aid in advancing DE&I across the divisions. Shares best practices with the L&D team to influence their understanding of DE&I principles in content design and development.

Qualifications:

3-4+ years of experience in learning and development, instructional design, or a related field, preferably in the Financial Services Industry.
Completion of Learning and Development Certification, related technical degree or equivalent experience.
Advanced to expert proficiency in eLearning authoring tools and LMS or Learning Experience Platforms (LXP).
Experience in performing needs assessments, course design and development and facilitation. Proficient in translating complex information into learner centered, accessible content.
Experience with adult learning principles, instructional design, emerging tools and best practices such as micro learning, learning journeys and LxD.
Proven project management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects within tight deadlines.
Well-developed facilitation skills, as well as written communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and SMEs.
Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including proficiency in rendering SharePoint pages and knowledge of LMS and/or LXP systems.
