The Advanced Financial Planning department is made up of a growing team that includes 43 accountants, lawyers and financial planners and provides financial planning support, training and resource material to IG Wealth Management Consultants.  The financial planning support provided includes taxation, estate planning and insurance support on complex cases and non-technical support for the financial planning software. The department also represents IG Wealth Management and its financial planning expertise to the media, the public and professional organizations through interviews and presentations.

 

We are currently looking for a Director to join our Advanced Financial Planning team.  We will consider applications anywhere in Quebec as the role could be remotely, but the person will be asking to travel in our different offices in Quebec to meet with the team and high value clients.

 

The Director is responsible for providing advanced taxation and estate planning advice, client meeting support, training and resource materials to IG Wealth Management Consultants. The position also provides advice to other head office departments and represents IG Wealth Management’s financial planning approach to the media, clients, the public and professional associations. 

 

Responsibilities include:

Provide taxation and estate planning and other financial planning support to IG Wealth Management Consultants, by responding to their questions on will and estate planning, taxation and other financial planning issues received by telephone and e-mail.

Provide support to IG Wealth Management Consultants, based on analysis, for high asset client situations, advising on will and estate planning.

Participate in meetings or conference calls with clients and/or their professional advisors on matters relating to estate and tax planning.

Initiate, develop and deliver estate planning, taxation and other financial planning training to support IG Wealth Management Consultants.

Develop and update financial planning resource tools for IG Wealth Management consultants

Provide advice and training to other support IG Wealth Management departments on estate planning, taxation and other financial planning issues (including the review of corporate materials, advertisements, client collateral relating to financial planning, participation on editorial committees for production of client publications, advice on new product development and on the appropriateness of various financial planning solutions).

Obtain the TEP (Trust and Estate Practioner).

 

Qualifications:

Minimum 7 years of experience in advanced will, estate and tax planning. Candidates who have a degree in a recognized university program in taxation will be preferred.

Attainment of a university degree and professional title of notary.

A continuous learner who stays on top of business trends and tax technical changes.

Flexible, able to work with light supervision and adapt to change.

Strong verbal and written communication skills in French and in English.

Strong public speaking and training skills.

Bilingualism (French and English).

Knowledge of French and English is required to support clients and Team members within and/ or outside the province of Quebec.

REQUIRED: Bilingual (English and French)

Minimum of 2 to 4 years’ experience in the financial services industry

Post-secondary education in a related field

Department Summary: IG Wealth Connect is a strategic area within Financial Services Distribution. The team is responsible for managing, servicing and providing financial planning advice to a segment of IG Wealth Management clients nationally. IG Wealth Connect currently operates throughout the country with Advisors working predominantly from home.

 

Position Summary: The Senior Manager, IG Wealth connect oversees 12 to 15 Advisors that are part of a quickly growing and very talented team. The focus of the role is to elevate the client planning experience by coaching, supporting a team of advisors to deliver on IG’s holistic approach to financial planning. Which goes beyond traditional investment advice to include all aspects of the client’s financial life including investment strategies, retirement planning, mortgages, banking and insurance. The Senior Manager is responsible for the efficiency, productivity and consistency of client experience. They have direct responsibility for their team of Advisors, are accountable for service agreements ensuring an appropriate balance of service. Quality, productivity and standards must continuously evolve and improve, and all must be handled in a cost-effective manner, while improving the ease of doing business for clients.

 

 Duties Include:

Manage day-to-day functions for servicing inbound/outbound client, proactive and retention activities.

Develop, coach, motivate, mentor, support and manage performance for team through the change management process.                                                                                         

Assist Director and VP with developing and executing strategies to achieve divisional and department targets.                   

Oversight of those responsible for the direct order servicing activities for registered and non-registered accounts.
