DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:

The mandate of Translation Services is to allow effective communication in French between the Company, its employees, Consultants, clients, shareholders, governments, the media and the general public.

 

JOB OPPORTUNITY:

The Translation Services department is looking for a full-time translator-revisor for a permanent position.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

In carrying out the Company’s communication strategies, Translation Services linguists are called upon to translate from English to French or, depending on their level of experience, to revise a wide array of texts of varying levels of complexity of a general nature or relating to the financial services industry and the operations of Mackenzie Investments, IGM and IG Wealth Management. Texts can take many forms: advertisements, brochures, training of all kinds, internal and external communications, policies and procedures for all our departments, etc.

The linguists on our team are first and foremost communicators and flagbearers of the Company’s brand image in the French-speaking market. They actively collaborate with the other departments of the Company and play a key role in the visibility of the department and in raising awareness of the quality of the French language among our staff.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: 

Review translations from English to French by external vendors and internal translators of documents of varying levels of complexity on a variety of topics for the public, our clients, Consultants and employees.

Evaluate the work of internal and external translators and provide feedback to improve language and financial skills.

Translate from English to French documents of varying levels of complexity on a variety of topics.

Contact clients to obtain additional information as needed and carry out all research required to provide an accurate translation.

Help maintain consistency of terminology within the Company by recording results of research in the internal terminology database.

Proofread ready-to-publish documents.
 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

University degree in translation

Ten years of experience in translation, three of which as a revisor, preferably in the financial sector

Ability to assimilate information quickly on a variety of subjects

Attention to detail

Great ability to concentrate and organizational skills

Strong interpersonal and feedback skills

Ability to work under pressure

Team player

Solutions-oriented, intellectually savvy and autonomous

Strong communication skills, verbally and in writing, in French and English

Proficiency in all Microsoft Office365 applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and general computer skills to quickly master other applications

Previous experience in financial translation would be considered an asset

Knowledge of CAT tools (memoQ), an asset

The successful candidate’s primary responsibilities will include but not limited to: 

Working in collaboration with External Wholesaler and developing an annual business plan, enabled by a monthly strategic plan.  Plan would include business development efforts, segmentation, branch/one on one presentations, conferences, seminars, and road shows 

Providing ongoing service to IG Wealth Management Advisors, RVPs, Division Directors regarding capital markets, product performance, portfolio positioning, portfolio manager and sub-advisor updates 

Leverage Wealth Planning Specialists, Portfolio Specialist, and Capital Markets & Strategy team to effectively educate, decipher and communicate capital markets updates and conduct in depth portfolio and product analysis 

Monitor and record sales activity and feedback within the territory to identify trends and provide suggestions to retain and growth Assets under Management 

Maintain accurate records within department systems 

 

The following qualifications will assist the successful candidate in carrying out these responsibilities: 

Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills 

Excellent interpersonal, judgment and decision-making skills 

Thorough knowledge of securities industry and particularly of the public and private markets and how they relate to Investment Solutions such as, mutual funds, ETFs, OMs, SMAs 

Excellent knowledge of IG Wealth Management Solutions and distribution channels 

Well developed presentation skills 

Excellent time management skills with the ability to schedule time to work on the business 

Ability to exercise sound judgment in responding to inquiries and servicing of Advisors 

Good knowledge of all Microsoft suite of products and Salesforce 

Successful completion of CSC or IFIC.  CIM, CIMA, CFA, CFP are assets but not required 

Minimum of 2 years of financial industry experience, preferably at an asset management and/or wealth management firm

Limited travel required

The Role

Reporting to the Director, Technology Tools Engineering, the Senior Service Manager will be responsible for leading the Observability Practice. It is a new role for a growing team to scale the Observability practices within IGM Technology and their 3rd party partners. You will advocate for end-to-end visibility of the full-stack of applications and their systems for incident avoidance and cloud cost optimization. You’ll be a critical leader influencing the leads of Application Development Delivery teams, Infrastructure Engineering teams, and Operations teams on Observability & SRE best practices such as Real User Monitoring, Synthetic Monitoring, Application Performance Monitoring, Error Monitoring, Log Monitoring, and Infrastructure Monitoring including the Network and the Databases. This role will be a subject matter expert in tier-1 premium observability tooling such as Datadog. The Senior Service Manager will lead a team of fulltime staff, contractors and partner vendors implementing the Observability strategy.

 

Key responsibilities:

Team  building and leadership skills

Assist in crafting the strategic vision of the Monitoring, Altering and Observability program at IGM

Drive the optimization of existing tools, keeping abreast of industry trends and recommending enhancements to the program

Subject Matter Expert and evangelist for observability, leading tool adoption and governing best practices

Observability and Site Reliability Engineering coaching across Application Delivery, Infrastructure Delivery, Technology Operations Center, Support & Operations team members

Lead the Observability community of practice

Collaboration with Managers, Architects, Tech Leads from various teams

Maintain roadmaps and manage contractual agreeements

Key Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field

10+ years of work experience in Cloud Engineering, App Development, Systems Administration, or Operations

5+ years of work experience in an Enterprise work environment

3+ years of management experience

Ability to lead and mentor

Strong customer service orientation

Good communication (verbal and written) & presentation skills

Effective negotiation skills

Dedication to learning and positive growth mind-set

Advanced experience with Monitoring and Logging

Senior level experience with Scripting and Configuration as Code

Advanced practical experience with Observability tools:

Experience in a multi cloud environment  (Azure, GCP, AWS)
