The Finance Department is accepting applications for the position of Manger, Finance within IG Wealth Management.  Reporting to the AVP Finance, the successful candidate will be primarily responsible for financial and regulatory reporting for the IG Wealth investment manger. The candidate will use judgement to provide decision-making support for the IG Wealth investment manager.  The role will liaison with other IGM teams to provide input on decision making related to the investment manger’s regulatory and financial reporting, and other related matters.

 

Specific responsibilities:

Prepare and analyze the financial results of the IG Wealth investment manager.

Prepare and analyze regulatory filings. 

Prepare and analyze financial statements for the investment manager as prepared under International Financial Reporting Standards.

Provide support for IG Wealth management and IGM finance functions including preparing analysis and participating in projects that impact the groups.

Provide, interpret and communicate accurate financial reporting and analysis on a timely basis for decision-making.

Work with external regulators and auditors.

Liaise with key management to provide relevant finance support and insights.

Develop presentations communicating financial impact of key strategies/initiatives and present to relevant executives and other leadership.

Work closely with other Finance and operations personnel.

Support and improve internal controls over systems and financial processes.

 

Qualifications:

Business degree and/or Professional Accounting Designation (CPA or equivalent)

7+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience within the financial services industry is an asset.

An understanding of regulatory rules relating to investment manager in Canada is an asset.

Advanced financial and business modelling skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate and manage relationships at all levels of the organization and work within a team environment.

Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to effectively handle pressures of deadlines, changing priorities and work volumes.

Ability to work autonomously, take initiative and assume responsibility.

We are currently looking for a Manager, Compliance, to join our Compliance department located across Canada. The mandate of the Compliance Department is to ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements affecting investment dealers, including rules, policies, and by-laws of the self-regulatory organization of the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO), provincial securities commissions, insurance commissions/councils and other regulators. The Department works closely with Distribution Leadership and other management to develop appropriate corporate policies, identifies, and promotes good business practices, executes business review programs to monitor sales practices, manages client complaint resolution processes and conducts branch examination programs. The Manager, Compliance, is registered to supervise the activities of IG Wealth Management registrants. 

 

Responsibilities include: 

Conducting tier 1 supervision activities including conducting reviews of daily and monthly trading, account opening and KYC updates, outside activities, social media supervision, and service-related complaint resolution on either the investment dealer or mutual fund dealer platform, and or both. 

Supporting IG Wealth Management registrants in resolving compliance issues with regulatory guideline interpretation and with inquiries relating to acceptance of unique or exceptional situations. 

Managing regulatory obligations and commitments, such as the 90-day training program, 6-month supervision, periodic on-site sub-branch visits, continuing education, as well as close supervision. 

Identifying training requirements, implementing, and coordinating the delivery of training programs. 

Participating in internal compliance reviews or external regulator audits conducted in Head Office or Branch/Sub-Branch office locations. 

   

Qualifications: 

7+ years of experience in a compliance-related environment. 

Post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant business discipline. 

Must qualify to be immediately registered with CIRO as a supervisor for investments, mutual funds, or both. 

If currently qualified as a supervisor for mutual funds only, the candidate must commit to completing the following courses within 1 year from hire, including the Canadian Securities Course (CSC), Conduct and Practices (CPH), and Investment Dealer Supervisor Course. 

Will have to meet other continuing education requirements as required by the regulators. 

In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry, including understanding of regulatory requirements of CIRO, insurance commissions/councils and other regulators. 

Strong oral, written and communication skills must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with various levels of staff, including senior management, along with being an effective listener. 

Must have a positive and collaborative approach to teamwork. 

Proven analytical and problem-solving skills. Well-developed organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, perform multiple tasks, deal with interruptions, and meet deadlines. 

Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. 

The ability to communicate verbally and written in French & English is an asset (opened to candidates outside of Quebec). For candidates within Quebec, proficiency in the French language (speaking, reading, and writing) is mandatory.

Department Summary:

The National Sales Team in the Investment Solutions business (IG Investments) oversees distribution of all IG Investments products & solutions.  Additionally, Investors Group Securities Inc. (IGSI) is a securities investment dealer, registered throughout Canada. IGSI accommodates and administers the diverse brokerage product and service needs of HNW clients referred by IG Wealth Management Advisors.  The Portfolio Strategist team focuses on Portfolio Strategy and Construction services for IG Advisors with HNW clients.

 

Position Summary:

The Portfolio Strategists support IG Advisors by providing in depth analysis on IG Wealth client & prospect portfolios more than $500,000. The purpose of the Portfolio Strategist is to provide a consistent approach to analyzing and providing options on existing client and prospective portfolios. The role has a strong emphasis on the thoughtful analysis and implementation of IG Investment products & publicly traded securities. The Portfolio Strategist Team is a centralized team that provides competitive insights, and third-party product support. Along with supporting the Wholesaling team with portfolio reviews of existing and prospective Advisors and clients.

 

Duties Include:

Provide portfolio analysis and client account review services using Eikon, Factset & Morningstar Advisor Workstation programs.

Conduct case & client discovery meetings with Advisors and HNW Clients

Participate in client meetings when portfolios are more than $1,000,000, and/or as needed.

Qualifications:

Seven years in the securities industry in a role providing client portfolio analysis, recommendations, and trade advice

Valid Securities License with Securities Commission(s) – Registered Representative/Investment Advisor category or ability to achieve licensing over a short period

Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation

University Degree, Canadian Investment Manager (CIM), Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI) or other securities industry credentials an asset

Strong Microsoft PC (Excel & Power Point) software skills, Thomson Reuters Eikon, and Morningstar Advisor Workstation knowledge and experience is an asset

Good standing in Continuing Education (CE) credits
