The Team The Seed Production section is responsible for effectively managing five ministry seed orchard sites, representing 50% of the orchard capacity in BC. The section has 11 full-time staff, 19 long-term auxiliary employees, and up to 80 seasonal staff, responsible for managing 50,000 trees within 40 orchards. Saanich Seed Orchard has a small team of  people who work closely on the development and day-to-day operations of the seed orchards. The Role The position is responsible for maintenance of orchard cones through picking and collecting or will be responsible for the maintenance of orchard trees through pruning. The Employee Communications team at IGM Financial is responsible for planning and delivering engaging and strategic employee communications across the IGM Financial group of companies (Mackenzie Investments and IG Wealth Management) to help drive fulfilling employee experiences and business performance. Director, IGM Employee Communications will lead communications for the IGM corporate functions, including the Chief Operations Officer (COO), Chief Information Officer (CIO), Human Resources (HR), as well as overseeing all digital corporate channels (Intranets, newsletters, digital boards). The role requires a thorough understanding of business strategies across IGM, effective collaboration across teams/business leaders, and an external focus to integrate leading best-practices.
   
The Director role is a people leader role based in Toronto, Winnipeg or Montreal in a hybrid workplace environment – with a minimum of 3 days in the office. Occasional travel is required (e.g. to the other IGM offices in Canada).
 
Key Accountabilities:
Communications Planning & Delivery (focused on IGM Corporate):

Lead employee communications for IGM Corporate (including Technology, Operations, Human Resources) – developing an annual plan and leading a team of 4 to plan and deliver communications to bring our strategy and culture story to life
Develop the COO and CIO communications program and calendar focused on Leadership Townhalls, All-Staff Townhalls, and Executive messages, including managing agendas, speakers, back-end production, PowerPoint decks, scripts/key messages, logistics and promotional communications
As part of the Technology and Operations leadership team, act as IGM connector and provide communications counsel & support to CIO, COO and Executive Leaders / key business stakeholders as needed, including confidential organizational announcements, business acquisitions, and business continuity/crisis management communications
Partner with the team to provide communications counsel and support on key HR initiatives – including culture, leadership capabilities and future of work; build strong planning and relationships within HR; and support Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), including managing social media and overseeing quarterly HR Town Hall 

Employee Digital Channels:

Oversee modernization and optimization of employee digital channels, including weekly newsletters, intranets, leader bulletins, targeted emails and digital boards, ensuring consistent and impactful messaging that is on-brand
Partner with leaders, stakeholders and the team on a new consolidated intranet project to modernize and streamline our main employee channel  
Lead the digital team to regularly analyze, measure and report on digital communication effectiveness providing actionable insights and recommendations for continuous improvement

Education, Experience and Leadership Competencies:

Bachelor’s degree or College diploma in Communications/English/Public Relations required; additional designation is an asset
10+ years of experience, including 5 years at a director level leading people in an agency or large conglomerate
Must have experience developing and executing communication plans and workbacks, including ability to analyze, measure and report on communication effectiveness  
Proven experience working with C-Suite executives in communications, as well as issues and crisis management with an ability to influence and persuade across all levels of the organization
Superior research, writing, editing and proofreading to drive compelling content across multiple channels and platforms (digital and in-person)
Strong organizational and project management skills with experience in managing multiple, diverse projects and tight deadlines with autonomy, while maintaining timely, high-quality work across the team – comfortable wearing a strategic hat and also rolling up sleeves alongside the team to make big things happen
A proactive and innovative mindset with the ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively, including continuous listening and asking questions to build rapport and alignment
Responds well to changing priorities and circumstances, and demonstrates resilience and positivity when faced with disruptions or obstacles
Ability to work independently with good initiative and judgement
