Position

We are currently hiring an intern looking for a summer term position, May to August 2025 in our Winnipeg Office (hybrid work environment). Candidates in an undergraduate program that will be returning to school after their internship are eligible to apply. 

 

The internship will support a variety of activities and functional areas within the Finance Division, which could include financial analysis, modeling, valuations, research, reporting and related activities within Treasury, Strategy, Planning & Analysis or other Finance functions.

 

Summer interns are encouraged to apply for the Finance stream of the 2-year New Grad Rotational Program in their graduation year.
 
Responsibilities:

Contribute to financial analysis, report production and other Finance project engagements.

Support building financial models and/or preparation of materials used to assess strategic, financial, valuation or other related business decisions.

Generate insights with ad-hoc research, data analysis and financial modeling.

Perform other related tasks to support key priorities within the Finance Division.

 

Requirements:

Registered students returning to school in 2025 in a related field.

Interest and passion for a career in Corporate Finance and looking to pursue the CFA designation post-graduation.

Ability to work well in a team environment and independently.

Excellent interpersonal, judgment & decision-making skills.

Analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to self-motivate and prioritize time-sensitive deadlines.

Effective organizational and multi-tasking skills.

Effectively communicate, verbally and in writing.

Demonstrated leadership skills.

Position Details:

The successful candidate will support the Mortgage, Insurance and Banking Portfolio Support department, which is responsible for managing/coordinating department projects, leadership calls, communications strategy. Develop content for executive decks and support the Assistant Vice President, Mortgage, Insurance & Banking with ad-hoc analysis and competitive intelligence.

 

Assist with various projects underway in support of initiatives, product development/ enhancements and process improvements.

Assist with development for training/procedural documents, and maintenance of existing materials. 

Support the maintenance & testing of mortgage, insurance and banking related business forms and templates.

Assists with updates and maintenance of mortgage, insurance and banking  content on various platforms.

Support the development and enhancement of reporting, analytics, tools & templates.

Assist with execution of test plans for various systems.

Provide support to management within Mortgage, Insurance and Banking team as required.

Support BAU activities 
 

Requirements:

Ability to organize priorities to meet deadlines and work on multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Able to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast paced, continuously evolving workplace.

Proven ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Strong Analytical skills with keen attention to detail.

The Strategy, Planning & Analysis (SP&A) team’s purpose is to improve decision-making to achieve the organization’s strategic objectives and drive profitable growth. Within the SP&A team, the Business Partner function is focused on improving the overall effectiveness of financial/business management across IGM Financial by providing timely and accurate reporting, proactive analysis & insightful planning support. There is a strong emphasis on delivering the highest quality of work, while upholding strong governance and controls throughout each process.

 

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance , Technology Business Partner, this role will support IGM’s Financial management , planning & forecasting process, process monthly accounting invoices and entries and prepare monthly Technology Expenses and Strategic Reporting for management analysis and decision-making.  

 

Responsibilities include:

Prepare monthly project spend/expense analysis and provide timely explanations of variances between actual results and forecasts/budgets.

Assist with the development of accurate analysis, reporting and presentations on a timely basis for decision-making.

Assist in the development of financial models and presentations to support business decisions on various ad-hoc analysis and reporting.

Support the Technology chargeback processes.

Support tooling that delivers the technology business management (TBM) methodology for cost transparency and recovery.

Work closely with other business partners and project stakeholders.

Assist with the development of quarterly expense forecasting and the annual planning process.

Coordinate with various leaders to create forecasts which meet established goals.

Assist with month-end closing activities (invoices and accrual submissions).

Identify and implement areas for process improvement and increased efficiencies.

 

Qualifications:

Business degree and/or Professional Accounting Designation (CA, CMA, CGA, CPA) – an asset but not essential

Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in Accounting/Finance

Strong understanding of allocation methodologies and utilization of ITFM solutions such as IBM- Apptio, Service Now, BMC, would be an asset.

Advanced financial and business modelling skills, including expert proficiency in Excel (macros, formulas and PowerPoint) is essential for performing this role.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate and manage relationships at all levels of the organization.

Excellent organizational skills, with demonstrated ability to effectively handle pressures of deadlines, changing priorities and work volumes.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work autonomously, take initiative and assume responsibility.
