If there’s one thing women can relate to, it’s self-doubt.

  • The hesitation before trying something new
  • The need to prove ourselves when we’re the only woman in the room
  • The stress of feeling like we have to have every part of our lives under control and organized every second of the day

We may put this pressure on ourselves, but it comes from very real external pressures such as gender bias, rampant sexism, and discriminatory behaviour.

However,  you may not realize self-doubt can be a catalyst for risk taking and ultimately succeeding, (if you learn to grow from it).

Here’s Why:

The initial fear and doubt you feel means you’re still humble, you have humility, (a great trait that women have, though it’s undervalued). But if you can propel yourself forward regardless of your fears, you will achieve great feats, and in turn become a creature of resilience.

Embrace the uncertainty. Though western culture suggests it’s a sign of weakness ,“vulnerable is the most powerful you can be,” says Suzanne West, CEO of Imaginea Energy Corp.

So next time you tell yourself “I don’t know if I can do it”, feel the fear, stand in it, and realize you have a choice to push beyond self-doubt to where you no longer stifle yourself.

Take a chance on yourself!

If self-doubt get’s the best of you this time, don’t get down on yourself (it’s happened to all of us), you’re just training for your next big chance.
