Position:

We are currently looking for a Senior Payroll Specialist to join our Human Resources department. This department is responsible for effective recruiting, human resource policy development and administration, performance management systems, compensation research, organizational effectiveness, benefit programs and payroll functions. 

The Senior Payroll Specialist is responsible for the complete, accurate and timely preparation and processing of the IGM Financial payrolls. 

 

Responsibilities include:

Timely and accurate processing of semi-monthly payrolls; for hourly and salaried employees, monthly and quarterly payrolls, including payroll reconciliations.

Preparation of various payroll reports, both standard and ad-hoc. 

Manual calculations of retroactive payments and retroactive adjustments.

Completion of Records of Employment.

Responding to internal and external inquiries, troubleshooting and resolution of issues.

Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in a computerized payroll environment. Exposure to the financial services industry would be considered an asset.

Post-secondary education diploma/certificate in a related discipline. Completion of National Payroll Institute (NPI) – PCP designation.

Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Excellent communication skills are essential as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality and sensitivity due to the nature of the information and client base.

The ability to work under pressure, with rigid deadlines.

Well-developed organizational and analytical skills.

The ability to communicate verbally and written in French and English is an asset.

SAP experience is an asset.

Position:

The Employee Communications team at IGM Financial is responsible for planning and delivering engaging and strategic employee communications across the IGM Financial group of companies (Mackenzie Investments and IG Wealth Management) to help drive fulfilling employee experiences and business performance. Success is achieved by delivering innovative communications that strengthen our brand and culture, while also optimizing internal digital channels through data-driven insights and strategic support for business partners. This role requires effective collaboration across teams and business leaders with a shared focus on integrating best practices and efficient ways of working.

 

Reporting to the Director, Employee Communications, and part of the IGM Financial Human Resources team, the Senior Manager, Employee Communications plays a pivotal role in enhancing the employee experience by leading innovative and metrics-based communications across digital channels. A key component of the role is building strong relationships within Human Resources (HR) to foster a high-performing culture with a focus on leadership capabilities, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), and wellness. In addition, this role leads the employee communications digital team, overseeing corporate channels such as intranets, e-newsletters and digital boards.     

 

The Senior Manager is a people leader role based in Winnipeg or Toronto in a hybrid workplace environment – with a minimum of 3 days in the office.

 

Key Accountabilities: 

 

Strategic Planning & Counsel (focused on HR)

Partner with Director to develop an annual HR internal communications plan with an innovative, streamlined approach, including an annual calendar and regular proactive touchpoints with HR stakeholders

Act as a key connector between HR and business partners, providing strategic counsel and insights into HR corporate initiatives, confidential/urgent messaging, and business-as-usual communications

Create tools and templates to enable and streamline self-serve capabilities for senior leaders and business partners, where appropriate

Support Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) with strategic planning, leadership engagement and communications, including managing social media and overseeing quarterly HR Town Hall

Communications Strategy, Writing, Editing and Execution

Collaborate with HR business partners on key HR initiatives (e.g., wellness, DEI, award submissions, training, performance management, talent acquisition brand, organizational announcements) to develop innovative communication tools, tactics and strategies

Provide editorial planning & support to ensure our leaders and employees are well-informed, engaged and contributing to IGM’s success

Write, edit, and proofread communications (e.g., employee and leadership bulletins, intranet site content, news articles, infographics, and CHRO social media posts) ensuring they align with IGM’s overall narrative while being tailored to the needs of diverse audiences

Manage the HR editorial calendar and continuously improve processes, workbacks, and documentation to maximize efficiency  

Employee Digital Communications

Oversee employee digital channels, including weekly newsletters, intranets, leader bulletins, targeted emails and digital signs ensuring consistent and impactful messaging

Partner with leaders, stakeholders and the team on a new consolidated intranet project to modernize and streamline our main employee channel

Regularly analyze, measure and report on digital communication effectiveness providing actionable insights and recommendations for continuous improvement  

Drive operational excellence by optimizing processes and enhancing efficiency across digital channels, including documentation (one best way), cross-training, workbacks and the use of RACI (Responsible, Accountable, Consulted and Informed) matrices

Education, Experience and Behavioural Competencies:  

 

Bachelor’s degree or College diploma in Communications, English and/or Public Relations required; additional designation is an asset

10+ years of experience in employee or corporate communications within a large organization or agency, with proven expertise in supporting senior executives and adapting messaging to reflect unique voices and for various audiences  

Strong background in strategic communication planning, execution and measurement   

Superior writing and editing skills with meticulous attention to style, tone and detail

Exceptional project management skills, capable of balancing multiple projects and meeting deadlines while maintaining high standards

Strong people leader with demonstrated ability to lead, inspire and develop high performing teams

The Team Both the Vernon and Penticton Fire Zones are lead by the Wildfire Officer who is accountable for a number of operational, technical and administrative staff. Ranging from 5-6 direct reports respectively, the Wildfire Officer in each of these Fire Zones is responsible for the supervision of 45-60 regular and auxiliary status staff, with numbers that can increase during the summer months due to wildfire response. Position:

The Senior Manager of Business Continuity Management is accountable for maintaining a program to ensure business teams have plans in place to continue delivery of services in the event of interruptions to normal operations. Leading a small team, the role is accountable for ensuring the organization is adequately identifying, measuring, managing and reporting business continuity and disaster recovery risks, and follows all standards and regulatory requirements. The role is also responsible for responding to non-technical incidents and assisting in crisis management.

 

Responsibilities:

Business Continuity Management Program

Maintain the business continuity management program for IGM Financial in line with the enterprise risk management framework

Oversee the transition to cross-functional business continuity planning for critical business processes

Track and report on the progress and effectiveness of the business continuity program, implementing continuous improvements to documentation, templates and responsibility matrix

Develop and execute training and awareness campaigns to drive awareness across IGM stakeholders (incl. executive awareness)

Business Continuity Plans

Assess continuity plans and business continuity impact assessments for quality and completeness

Ensure minimum testing activities are occurring

Facilitate the sharing of best practices among business continuity plan owners

Maintain a gap analysis list and work with business continuity plan owners to close

Business Incident Response

Maintain an incident response playbook to aid in assessing threats and impacts, and expediting recovery from events impacting critical business functions

Facilitate the response to business incidents or emergencies by engaging appropriate cross-functional stakeholders (triage, assessment, action, closure)

Support Crisis Management function through updates to the Crisis Management Plan and preparing the annual crisis simulation

Participate in the crisis management and response teams during incidents

Collaboration

Partner with Procurement Services to ensure vendor contracts are compatible with IGM business continuity standards

Collaborate with Technology partners to ensure alignment of Technology Disaster Recovery Plans with Business Continuity Plans

Respond to external due diligence inquiries

 

Qualifications:

Required

5+ years in business continuity leadership role. Excellent team building skills, both as a leader and as a team player, with proven experience assisting lines of business with business recovery as per their plans

Strong experience in developing effective partnerships to deliver services, while holding respective parties accountable to commitments

Demonstrated experience in influential communication and relationship management to senior management and stakeholders. Can effectively develop and sell concepts to Executive audience

Strategic vision and planning ability with experience developing a policy framework, related processes and control frameworks.

Outstanding change management, communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead and execute change

Sound judgment and strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify opportunities for enterprise collaboration
