Position:

 

We are currently hiring a Program Manager – Climate and Environment to join IGM Financial’s Corporate Sustainability team. This team works with a wide variety of business leaders across the organization to direct and execute on IGM’s sustainability strategy, transparently report on IGM’s progress and performance, and engage internal and external stakeholders on environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Reporting to the AVP, Corporate Sustainability, the Program Manager – Climate and Environment will manage the climate and environmental strategy in support of IGM’s overall Corporate Sustainability program.

 

Program Management – strategy and transition planning

Monitor the execution of the climate and environmental strategy

Advise leadership on emerging climate and environmental-related trends and industry developments to inform the execution of the strategy

In collaboration with key stakeholders, develop new strategic environmental programs and initiatives

Support the development of a climate transition plan

Monitor transition plan implementation, delivering measurable results and supporting decision-making

Facilitate internal working groups in developing environmental policies, procedures, and action plans

 

2.      Climate risk management

Assist with further development of climate risk strategy and quantification of climate-related impacts

Engage with the business in developing and executing on climate-related risk management practices

Support development of climate risk identification (metrics/KRIs), modelling and scenario analysis

Develop process to measure, monitor and report on the metrics

 

3.      Reporting and disclosure

Support annual IGM sustainability reporting, collaborating with various internal teams

Lead annual CDP reporting including project management and stakeholder collaboration  

Support Finance team in interpreting emerging standards, greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting, data management and assurance

Support the selection of data systems and service providers, as required, to support climate and environmental data and metrics

Provide input into public consultations related to environmental policies and regulations

 

Qualifications:

A degree in a relevant field of study (Sustainability, Environmental Science, Finance, Statistics), specialized climate training considered a strong asset

5-10 years of relevant climate and environmental experience (financial services experience is an asset)

Experience in climate risk frameworks as well as climate risk assessment / management (i.e. SCR, FRM)

Data and technical knowledge in modelling and scenario analysis (particularly with financial institutions or consulting firms)

Excellent quantitative analytical skills and comfortable working large datasets

Experience in sustainability and/or climate reporting (CDP experience considered a strong asset)

Articulate and effective communicator (written, oral, presentation)
