The Role:

The Insurance and Estate Planning Specialist (IEPS) is responsible for providing personalized insurance solutions that meet the needs of IG Wealth Management clients. Working closely with IG advisors, the IEPS designs and implements advanced strategies for wealth preservation, retirement income enhancement, estate distribution and transfer, charitable giving, business succession and living benefits, including critical illness insurance and disability income protection. Competitive base salary and benefits are offered, as well as performance-based compensation.

The IEPS uses their expertise in insurance and estate planning to optimize clients’ financial plans. They will use leading financial planning software to translate abstract notions into concrete terms. Through a proactive approach, the IEPS will identify opportunities to partner with advisors and clients. 

 

Responsibilities:

Establish relationships with consultants who want to partner with you to act as the insurance expert on their team for their HNW clients
Identify clients and insurance opportunities together with the consultant.
Develop proposal, model in our proprietary financial planning software, and present the solution to the client.
Actively speak and engage consultants at RO events and clients at marketing events.
Liaise with Region Management to identify strategies to grow insurance sales and Consultant growth opportunities.
Manage and promote key relationships with our Insurance Partners’ Advanced Sales departments.
Collaborate with Head Office on insurance and estate planning initiatives to the field.

 

Requirements:

Strong leadership, sales and relationship building skills and ability to execute on your own business plan.
Knowledge and understanding of industry conditions and trends, and competitor products and pricing.
Expert knowledge of insurance & estate planning principles, financial services, and tax laws.
Ability to run a successful practice virtually and to travel throughout your own area using your own means of transportation.
Strong customer service attitude with good interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment in both French and English.
Well-developed negotiation and influencing skills.
Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
Holds applicable provincial licenses.

DEPARTMENT SUMMARY

The Client Relations department delivers critical front-line support to Advisors, Clients, Assistants, Specialists and other internal partners on business matters and products for multiple lines of business and across multiple service platforms.  

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Client Relations department is a critical business function and enabler of strategic transformation initiatives impacting IGWM. As a central resource for Advisors, Clients and internal business partners, Client Relations provides support for new product launches, technologies and processes that are key to the success of transformation. Working in a fast-paced environment, the main responsibility is to accurately, professionally and effectively handle and resolve client and consultant inquiries and problems through acquired product knowledge of the corporate policies and procedures.    

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Creating effortless experiences when receiving and responding to inbound phone and email contacts from consultants, clients, and other institutions, and ensuring we only do what is best for our clients.  

Delivering a reliable, consistent, and transparent service by handling all inquiries with a high level of quality and professionalism, determining the best course of action, and ensuring completion of action has met established standards. 

Deliver value by maintaining knowledge and awareness of all policies, procedures and technologies including sharing information on recent policy changes and simplified business processes. 

Build a culture of quality by assisting team members with problem resolution by providing and sharing information and experiences. 

Enable personal and departmental growth by participating in individual and team meetings with leadership to discuss call monitoring feedback, training and development needs, service levels, and providing feedback on business operation needs and trends by maintaining awareness of business needs and requirements. 

Fuel our future by supporting transformation and modernization, and promoting adoption for our consultants and our clients as we go through our transformation journey 

Promote operational excellence by participating in special projects and assignments within the Client Services Division.  

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to work independently in your home office where you will serve clients on the phone leveraging your resilience, resourcefulness, and proven experience in delivering an exceptional client experience and deepening client relationships  

Contact Centre Experience and Knowledge: Minimum 2 plus years in a diverse client service focused role, with front line client service and working with mutual funds/other investments experience. 

Education: Post-secondary degree/diploma in a business discipline with relevant securities or financial services courses is an asset. 

Client Oriented: Excellent interpersonal and proven client service skills with an ability to interact across various situations 

Communications: Well demonstrated written and verbal communication skills 

Understanding and adopting emerging and changing technologies is required to stay relevant. Proficient PC skills including Word, Excel, Access and email 

Highly engaged and adaptive with emotional intelligence, agility, critical thinking, decision making, analysis and collaboration 

Organization: Ability to plan, execute, and follow through with actions and requests in a timely manner 

Bilingual (French and English)

The Advanced Financial Planning department is a growing team of 43 legal, accounting, and financial planning professionals responsible for providing support, training and resource material to IG Advisors. The support provided includes estate planning, taxation and insurance support, and financial planning software support on complex cases. Members of the department also provide support to high-net-worth clients, particularly those with complex needs, by meeting with them (either remotely or in person) to discuss tax and estate planning strategies and liaising with the client’s external professionals to co-ordinate the planning where necessary. 

 

We are currently looking for a lawyer to join our Advanced Financial Planning team. We are open to considering candidates located in any Canadian common law jurisdiction. Although work can be conducted remotely, there will be an expectation of periodic travel to meet in person with the team and with high-net-worth clients.

 

Responsibilities:

Provide estate planning, estate taxation, marital property and other financial planning support for IG Wealth Advisors by responding to their questions or issues received by telephone and e-mail.

Review wills, powers of attorney, trusts, co-habitation agreements, shareholders agreements and other legal documentation to identify issues, concerns and planning opportunities.

Prepare written reports (based on detailed analysis) for complex client situations, advising on estate, tax and other financial planning opportunities, strategies and issues.

Analyze financial plans for potential legal issues in client situations, particularly those involving business owners and private corporations.

Able to work independently and undertake meetings or conference calls with clients and/or their professional advisors on matters relating to estate planning and tax.

Present concepts and deliver continuing education sessions within the Advanced Financial Planning team.

Develop and provide advice and training to other IG Wealth Management departments on estate planning, marital property, estate taxation and other financial planning issues (including the review of corporate materials, advertisements, client collateral relating to financial planning, participating on editorial committees for production of client publications, advising on new product development and on the appropriateness of various financial planning solutions).

Complete the Certified Financial Planner (“CFP”) designation with FP Canada if not already obtained.

 

Requirements:

Minimum 3 years experience in estate planning and taxation, with a preference for completion of additional industry related education (examples could include the Trust and Estate Practitioner designation awarded by the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners or the CPA Canada in-depth tax course) and experience in delivering advice to owner/managed businesses and/or high-net-worth individuals.

Completion of a post-secondary university degree plus attainment of a professional legal designation.

A continuous learner who stays on top of business trends and changes in the law.

Flexible, able to work with light supervision and adapt to change.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Strong public speaking and training skills.

Proficiency with Windows environment PC based tools.
