People often ask me why I founded WIL. Finding my calling was very important to me. When I graduated from university, I felt there was so much opportunity.  What was most important to me, was to find work that I loved. I founded WIL out of a desire to help other women see their own potential. The vision of how I could help women succeed along with the need to have more women in decision making roles was what motivated me even at a time when I took a risk to chart a new path and had student loans weighing on me.

Here we are celebrating 15 years of WIL, I still love what I do and am grateful for the opportunity to work with incredibly talented people to help others through WIL. I love the creativity in my work and the opportunity to meet new people. Do you feel like you are making a difference in your company or with your coworkers? Tanner Institute’s Great Work Study found that 88% of great work projects began with the employee asking, “what difference would people love?” The study also found that people who do great work focus more on the recipient of their work than on the work itself. Our new job board was born out of the intention to do more to increase the number of women in leadership positions. We have also launched our corporate membership program, will soon launch individual membership (paid) and are looking to establish a national Women in IT Week program in mid May with support from generous sponsors and our chapters to increase the number of women in the sector.
