Employers: Network Your Business!

By: Shay White

As you may have seen in our webinar with Emily Dupuy as well as this blog post, networking is KEY. It allows you to form personal connections with others and market yourself for the potential job opportunities out there in an informal way. As a job seeker, networking is key, but it’s also integral for a business. So how can you, as an employer, market your business and get others involved and invested?

Our Top Tips to Network:

First, find the right places to network your business. If you are just starting out, attending as many local networking groups as possible in order to talk to as many different members is a great first step. Once you begin to establish connections, you will be able to filter out who will specifically gain value from your services or who will provide the most value to your business. You will also be able to gain contacts to even more individuals or companies who can assist you.

How can you find those local networking groups? Look for professional societies, chambers of commerce or business roundtables, community service organizations or customers’ professional societies. These are great places to start and often have many businesses who regularly attend these events.

Once you have started attending these events – commit. Attending only a few times is going to get you nowhere. Stay relevant by showing up, allowing your contacts to connect your business to a friendly face.

Here’s a philosophy that will change your networking framework – people want to help you. Allow these networking events to help others help you and your business.
