LSO AGRL 3 – Industry Specialist, Aquaculture & Seafood – (81605)

The purpose of this position is to provide ground level strategic analysis, technical expertise and industry support and advisory services to foster a competitive, self-reliant, profitable, and market-responsive aquaculture and seafood industry in British Columbia. The Industry Specialist is responsible for the periodic assessment of industry competitiveness, and the planning, development and implementation of initiatives that are designed to enhance the competitiveness of BC agri-food industries. It is expected that each Industry Specialist possesses and maintains in-depth expertise in one or more specialized sectors while at the same time being able to provide general professional support to the management of cross-sector issues.

The Industry Specialist is expected to work closely with industry personnel and their representative organizations, with other staff within the Branch, and other Ministry branches and various levels of government and academia. The position has major input regarding strategic planning for the Branch and is expected to authoritatively reflect critical competitive issues for their respective areas of accountability. There is a high degree of independence and professional judgment expected of the Industry Specialist position.
