Job Requirements:

  • Diploma, or higher, in civil engineering or a related field (i.e. chemical, metallurgical, forest engineering, survey geomatics, geoscience), or natural resource field (i.e. forestry).
  • Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a Registered Forest Technologist or equivalent with the Association of British Columbia Forest Professionals (ABCFP). Note: Immediately eligible is defined as being able to transfer a current membership from an applicable jurisdiction to the ABCFP. Confirmation of registration/eligibility is required before an offer of employment can be made.
     

Preference may be given to those with one or more of the following: 

  • Experience managing relationships with stakeholders and/or First Nations’ communities.
  • Experience in project and/or contract management.
  • Experience in wildfire suppression and fireguard construction.
  • Experience in post-wildfire recovery and/or rehabilitation work.
  • Experience with GIS systems and mapping tools (i.e. Esri Arc).

Provisos:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid BC Driver’s Class 5 Licence or equivalent.
  • May be required to operate a variety of field equipment.
  • Must be willing and able to withstand the rigors of field work. 
  • Must be willing and able to work in all/adverse weather conditions. 
  • Must be willing and able to travel to meet job requirements.
  • Must comply with the safety standards of the Ministry and WorkSafe BC.

About this Position:

This is a temporary opportunity until 03/31/2026. 

A permanent appointment may result from this temporary appointment.

Flexible work options are available, this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
An eligibility list may be established for future permanent and/or temporary opportunities.
Applicants who do not fully meet the required qualifications may be considered for this position, but at a lower classification.
