The Team
The Quesnel Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) team consists of 5 Clinicians, 2 Support Workers and an experienced and supportive Team Leader dedicated to making a meaningful impact in their community. This team is co-located with other Ministry of Children and Family Development services, and works closely with Northern Health, the local School District, a contracted psychiatrist and other community partners to provide a wide range of mental health supports for children, youth, and families facing moderate to severe mental health concerns. The Role
As a Clinician you will play a key role in supporting positive mental health outcomes by providing direct services such as assessments, individual and group treatment and related education to local children, youth, and their families impacted by mental health challenges. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Clinical/Applied Psychology, Counselling Psychology, OR PsyD, AND *registered with, or eligible for, registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia (CHCPBC).
  • *Note: If you are registered as a Psychologist in another province, equivalencies for out of province applicants may be considered by the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia (CHCPBC). Please contact the association for registration requirements in BC.
    • NOTE: If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
  • Completion of a psychological pre-or post-doctoral internship of 1600 hours in a child and youth mental health or hospital setting with specialization in formal psychological assessment, diagnoses and treatment of mental health disorders.
  • Experience in clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology.
  • Minimum of one year full-time equivalent experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver’s license with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Two years or more experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
  • Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
