The Team
The Corporate Planning and Priorities Unit is a dedicated, established team working to modernize contract management across the ministry. With a focus on contract development, administration, monitoring, and reporting, the team’s work is essential to reducing the workload on front-line staff, minimizing risk, and supporting better outcomes for children, youth, and families. This small but impactful team collaborates closely with managers and program staff across the ministry, bringing together diverse expertise to drive positive, lasting change in contract management practices.
The Role
You’ll be at the heart of a transformative project aimed at improving support for children, youth, and families across BC. As the project’s main organizer, you’ll guide, coordinate, and track progress on all moving parts, helping teams work together smoothly and effectively. This is an exciting opportunity to drive meaningful change in a unique, cross-functional area that blends finance, corporate services, and contract management—making a real difference for communities throughout the province.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field (e.g., business or public administration, commerce/finance) and a minimum of five years related experience, OR
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
- Related experience must include a minimum of one year in each of the following:
- Project and program development and implementation.
- Strategic planning and high-level problem and issue resolution.
- Establishing collaborative relationships with executives and leading organizational change associated with implementation.
- Implementation of change plans.
- Staff supervision, including performance planning, management, and assignment of work.
Preference may be given to candidates with:
- Experience leading and coaching multi-disciplinary senior level professionals and/or managers in the development and implementation of complex projects, programs, and/or services.
- Facilitation experience, including information gathering, synthesizing data and providing recommendations to Executive.
- Experience at a senior level leading major projects of large scale and complexity that have multiple project delivery components.
Proviso:
- Must be qualified to complete the Project Management Professional Designation within 6 months of commencement.

About this Position:
Amendment (Nov 27): Closing date extended until December 4, 2024.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This is a temporary opportunity until July 31, 2025. This position may be extended or become permanent.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
