About the BCLDB:

The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is one of two branches of government that provide oversight for the beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis industries in the province. The LDB is responsible for the wholesale distribution of liquor and cannabis, and operates the retails brands BCLIQUOR and BC Cannabis Stores.

The LDB has been assigned to distribute, wholesale, and sell non-medicinal cannabis inclusive of a government owned online channel with a mandate to support government’s key priorities of protecting public health and safety, promoting social responsibility, and eliminating the illicit market.  Since 2018, the BC Cannabis Stores chain has grown to 39 locations across the province, providing an educational, safe, and socially responsible outlet for the BC public to engage with non-medical cannabis products. We distribute cannabis to all licensed retail locations across BC and work with licensed producers across Canada to provide a wide product assortment that is centrally distributed.  Cannabis operations within the BCLDB includes the Distribution, Merchandising, Retail Operations, Supply Chain, and Marketing departments​.

About this role:

Reporting to the Director, Marketing, E-commerce & Customer Care, Cannabis Operations, the Senior Marketing Manager is responsible for bringing the BC Cannabis Stores brand to life through retail and online marketing; driving sales and educating customers through creative content, signage and visuals; and continuously improve marketing and merchandising programs by measuring overall campaign results and ROI.   

The Senior Marketing Manager will also work directly with the Director to collaborate on defining and implementing the overall BCCS marketing strategy.  The Senior Marketing Manager and the Senior eCommerce Manager together to develop content and execute strategic objectives relevant to the B2C online retail and B2B wholesale eCommerce websites. This role is responsible for developing innovative strategies and marketing programs to develop BCCS market share and generate incremental sales. We are seeking a leader who has the vision, experience, and passion to lead a team of five and delivers strategic objectives that support industry and educate customers.

Position requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • A degree in marketing or a related field with a minimum of four (4) years of recent, related work experience*.  

OR 

  • A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered, i.e., post-secondary (high) school diploma or equivalent certificate with six (6) years of recent, related experience*. 

*Recent, related experience must have occurred in the last ten (10) years and must include the following: 

  • A minimum of four (4) years’ experience leading a team, managing retail and digital marketing. 
  • Experience with online analytical tools, KPI reporting, email marketing programs, and digital marketing screens in-stores. 
  • Leading significant operational changes to achieve business operations and improve profitability. 
  • Relationship management with key stakeholders e.g., vendors, senior managers, government or internal teams.
