The Team
The Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA) Program team in the public sector is an established, dynamic group of over 20 professionals dedicated to helping communities across the province recover from disaster events. This diverse team brings together individuals from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, fostering an inclusive environment that values equity, diversity, and inclusion in its approach to disaster recovery. The Adjudication Analyst will collaborate with Recovery Officers, fellow Adjudication Analysts, and Adjudication Leads, as well as colleagues from the Recovery Funding Branch, Ministry, local government, and Indigenous Government representatives. Together, this team makes a meaningful impact by providing essential financial support to communities affected by disasters, empowering their path to recovery.
The Role
The Adjudication Analyst plays a crucial role in analyzing and making initial determinations on community applications for disaster financial assistance. By conducting thorough evaluations of each application based on provincial legislation, the analyst provides fair and evidence-based decisions that directly support communities on their path to recovery. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside a passionate team of recovery professionals, contributing to impactful work that supports diverse communities after disaster events. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in business administration, public administration, commerce, economics, law, emergency management or a related discipline, AND six (6) months of related experience*; OR
- Certificate in business administration, public administration, commerce, economics, law, emergency management or a related discipline, AND one (1) year of related experience*.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
*Related experience must include all of the following:
- Experience providing advice and guidance to the public or other partners on program administration.
- Experience reviewing documents or applications for completeness and making recommendations for approval.
- Experience interpreting and applying legislation and regulations.
Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:
- Experience working with and engaging with Indigenous Nations communities and/or organizations.
- Experience working with emergency response programs.
- Experience working with governments to assess eligibility and process payments relating to government infrastructure disaster recovery.
- Who identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) .
Applicants must be willing and able to:
- Be flexible regarding ongoing changes in responsibilities, assignments, and corporate structures.
- Work on-call and work extended hours during emergency activations.
- Travel occasionally.

About this Position:
This is a temporary opportunity until December 31, 2025. This position may be extended or become permanent.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work a few days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
Flexible work options may not be available during emergency operations response periods.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
