The Role:
As an Engineering Officer, you’ll be key in planning and managing engineering projects both operational and those related to the Atmospheric River / extreme weather event in 2021. You’ll oversee and coordinate engineering activities, develop and manage contracts and budgets, and interact with the public, First Nation partners, and a variety of interested parties. There is ample opportunity in this role to learn and to develop your project management skills. We look forward to working with you to support the delivery of our operational goals and improve the existing systems for greater efficiency.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:

  • A diploma in a natural resource field (i.e. forestry, forest engineering, survey geomatics, geoscience) and five (5) years of related experience; OR
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a natural resource field (i.e. forestry, forest engineering, survey geomatics, geoscience) or civil engineering and three (3) years of related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Valid class 5 B.C. driver’s licence or equivalent.
  • You must be registered (or immediately eligible for registration) as a Forest Technologist (RFT) or as a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) with Forest Professionals British Columbia (FPBC), or as Professional Engineered (P.Eng.) with the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia.

*Note: immediately eligible for registration is defined as being able to transfer a current membership from an applicable jurisdiction. Applicants must confirm their eligibility with the FPBC. Confirmation of registration/eligibility will be required before an offer of employment can be made.

Related experience includes all of the following:

  • Experience in contract and/or project supervision.
  • Experience supervising staff or overseeing contractors.
  • Budget management experience.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Experience in road, bridge and major structures design, construction and maintenance gained within the last 5 years.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This is a temporary opportunity until September 30, 2026.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
