Position Description:
This role is hybrid and requires you to be in our downtown Toronto office (250 Yonge Street) 2-3 times per week – subject to change at any time.
The Human Resources Business Partner Manager is a trusted advisor responsible for providing leadership, HR advice, and consultation to the BU/sub-BU or Corporate Services Management team, thus helping them to build and develop their organization. As well, the HRBP Manager acts as a partner for the SBU/BU HR Business Partner in leading the effective delivery of HR services, either as team leader or as an individual contributor.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
Team and Member Management
•Provide clear coaching and guidance to the team of HR business partners and HR generalists supporting the BU/sub-BU, reinforcing the advanced skills and global performance standards, as required in the region
•Facilitate and assist implementation of actions resulting from employee and manager feedback regarding HR Services activities with alignment to the HR Strategy
•May, as needed, manage, lead and motivate a team of HR business partners and HR generalists supporting the BU
•Continuously improve the depth and breadth of the HR knowledge and expertise and the ability to apply this effectively through input to the business plan, identification of key HR interventions and development of HR programs, policies and systems
Operations Management
•Ensure compliance with employment/social law and agreements and consult with Legal, when needed, to reduce risk in regard with related contractual, legislative and policy matters
•Act as coach and trusted advisor, working effectively with the BU/sub-BU management team, including Financial Controller to successfully sustain the BU/sub-BU business plan
•Identify and act upon continuous improvement of quality of services
•Develop and provide business unit leaders with HR performance analysis against key HR metrics and support in follow-up measures and action plans
•Ensure quality and effectiveness in the implementation of HR policy, programs, services and change initiatives
•Provide appropriate recommendations in action to be taken to help managing priorities within the BU HR budget
Client Relationship & Business Development
•Understand the role of HR in supporting the Business needs in line with the Global HR orientations and SBU/BU
HR strategy
•Develop trusted advisor relationships with business leaders, managing key relationships working with the SBU/BU HR Business Partner to support the business on current and future projects and priorities
•Participate to and support transformation and integration programs
•Liaise and collaborate with HR Business Partners to agree on actions and to ensure compliance with corporate strategy and programs
•Contribute to and/or support the deployment and implementation of global and (S)BU HR initiatives
•Promote a positive (member)-experience throughout the member life-cycle process and act as CGI ambassador
•Ensure appropriate dialogue with social partners and representatives in the region, When and where applicable
Service Delivery
•Act as a Gate Keeper of Corporate of HR Policies & Programs by ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, corporate governance and commitments/rules towards its members in their BU/sub-BU as per CGI Management Foundation
•Deliver and advise on all key HR areas in line with agreed HR policies, services and programs and according to CGI standards. Lead in one of these areas, when needed
•Support implementation of actions resulting from employee and manager feedback regarding HR Services activities
•Manage the HR services activities and ensure the service delivery via the GHRMS in the BU/sub-BU
Business Strategy
•Appreciates the different services provided and how they impact business performance and the type of HR requirements
•Identifies new information or data to key decision-makers to support their understanding and decisions
•Understands and applies the external HR trends locally and globally, to better support the businesses for current and future
•Presents robust business arguments using facts and data
Financial Skills
•Understands and explains the basic financial metrics used to measure business performance
•Understands the different mix of services and revenues, and what drives the respective profitability levels
•Manages their own HR budget
•Reads and interprets monthly and quarterly business reports; sees trends and understands the interdependencies
Consultation and Negotiation
•Conveys ideas and thoughts in a clear focused style using effective verbal and non-verbal communication techniques
•Builds consensus and seeks the cooperation of others when working with other parties
•Plans group meeting with a clear objectives and agenda
•Check and balance the interests of all affected parties in carrying out HR activities and act accordingly
•Presents compelling arguments using facts and data
•Comfortable in engaging leaders from Director to sub-BU leader, in debates and discussions regarding member engagement
Organizational Diagnosis and Design
•Understands and uses the broader principles of organizational design to ensure improved business effectiveness
•Establishes and understands the short-term and long-term goals of planned organizational changes
Project Management
•Manages HR projects to successful completion on time, on budget, and with sufficient quality
•Understands best practice in the area of HR measurement, and uses this to support core CGI HR metrics when engaging with the business
•Understands and successfully applies the interdependencies of the metrics
•Provides clear and accurate data on their own area of responsibility
•Alert to possible risks to successful completion of projects/tasks
Change Management
•Identifies connections, patterns or trends in the information available
•Identifies risks and change issues for the change
•Uses best practice tools and techniques to ensure the effective implementation
BU’s cover a country or a region in a country
•Cross border travelling is required at a low frequency
•BU covers multiple countries, cross border travelling is required at a higher frequency
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
• Relevant Bachelor or Master degree or equivalent degree and/or HR related certifications
• Fluent in English and in one of the key language(s) relevant
• At least 4 to 7 years’ experience in preferably an IT consulting organization having had responsibility for a HR expert role advancing through the execution level into the tactical area
