Position Description:
We currently have an opportunity in our Accounting Policies Group (”APG”) team.
The Manager plays an important role as an advisor in complex accounting matters requiring technical IFRS research and also contributes to the success of various projects such as accounting for acquisitions and implementation of new IFRS standards.
The Manager coordinates the review process of some sections of the annual and quarterly consolidated financial statements of the Company.
This position is located in Montréal, Canada under a hybrid work policy and is a perfect role for a Big 4 auditor looking to transition to industry.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
• Management of a team of 3 people.
• Ensure that revenue recognition checklists provided by Business Unit Controllers are filed on time, are complete and accurate as well as supporting the team in doing so
• Advise the Business Units and Corporate Departments (Consolidation, Tax, Treasury, Legal, etc.) on their technical accounting questions and provide them with guidance to resolve their accounting challenges on a timely basis;
• Coordinate update of accounting policies in line with IFRS and adapted to CGI’s customary business practices;
• Participate in the review of the Notes of the quarterly and year-end financial statements and validate that the notes meet the IFRS disclosure requirements;
• Provide Accounting Policy training sessions to the finance community of CGI;
• Assist the Director – Accounting Policies with the coordination of various ad hoc projects.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
• Experience in team management
• A university-level education in the field of accounting and finance
• An accounting designation such as Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA)
• 5+ years of experience in accounting (experience working in a Big 4 firm is considered a significant asset for this role)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in French and English
• Experience with MS Office tools (especially Excel)
In addition to your technical skills, you demonstrate autonomy, initiative and accountability. You have excellent organizational skills and can work under pressure. A good communicator, you are team-oriented, can adapt to change and know how to prioritize and meet deadlines.
