The Team

Welcome to the Authorizations team for Crown Land in the Thompson Okanagan Region. Our work involves conducting technical reviews of applications and providing informed recommendations to decision-makers. The Role

As an Licensed Authorizations Officer, you will report to a Senior Authorizations Specialist/Senior Licensed Authorizations Officer and work in various settings to provide technical advice on resource allocation and authorizations. Your contributions will play an essential role in ensuring responsible management of crown land for our communities. Qualifications

Education, Experience, & Designation:
• An undergraduate degree (or higher) in a natural resource related field (i.e., environmental studies, agriculture, forestry, engineering, land planning, land use economics etc.), as recognized by the BC association for that specialty area, AND
• Registered, or eligible for registration, with the British Columbia professional association as required by the specialty area (e.g., Association of Forest Professionals, Institute of Agrologists, Engineers and Geoscientists BC).
• Experience in negotiating and/or resolving conflicts with interested parties.
• Experience working in a natural resource field.

Preference may be given to applicants with any of the following: 
• Experience performing technical duties under and/or working with key statutes that support natural resource management (E.g. Land Act, Land Title Act, Water Sustainability Act, Forest and Range Practices Act).
• Experience engaging with First Nations.
• Experience managing licensing and leasing documents, agreements and/or authorizations in a natural resource management or related field.

About this Position

Currently there is 1 temporary opportunity available until June 16, 2025. This temporary assignment may become permanent.
This position can be worked from the following communities: Kamloops, Merritt, Penticton, Vernon, or Clearwater. 
An eligibility list may be established for future temporary and/or permanent opportunities.
