The Team
The South Fraser CYMH Integrated Practice Team supports children and youth in non-parental care by collaborating closely with their care teams to improve mental health outcomes. This established team of five clinicians, a team leader, and an administrative assistant utilizes cutting-edge research in trauma, neurodevelopment, and attachment to provide targeted interventions. The Role
As an Integrated Practice Technician, you play a vital role in improving the mental health and well-being of children and youth in non-parental care, impacting all areas of their lives, including behavior, emotions, relationships, education, and health. By enhancing the community’s capacity to support these individuals, you help create a more inclusive and understanding environment for those affected by complex developmental trauma. This role offers opportunities to collaborate with diverse professionals, contribute to meaningful change, and develop creative interventions that make a lasting difference in the lives of clients and their support networks.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Clinical/Applied Psychology, Counselling Psychology, OR PsyD, AND *registered with, or eligible for registration with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia as a Psychologist. *Note: If you are registered as a Psychologist in another province, equivalencies for out of province applicants may be considered by the College of Psychologists of BC.  Please contact the association for registration requirements in BC.
  • Completion of a psychological pre-or post-doctoral internship of 1600 hours in a child and youth mental health or hospital setting with specialization in formal psychological assessment, diagnoses and treatment of mental health disorders.
  • Experience in clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology.
  • Minimum of one year full-time equivalent experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver’s license with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).
  • Successful completion of security screening requirements of the BC Public Service, which may include a criminal records check, and/or Criminal Records Review Act (CRRA) check, and/or enhanced security screening checks as required by the ministry (Note: It is important that you read the job posting carefully to understand the specific security screening requirements pertaining to the position).

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Two years or more experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services. 
  • Completion of the CCI (Complex Care Intervention) Certification Program or training, or training and experience and Attachment, Regulation, Competency (ARC) Framework, and/or Neurosequeitnial Model of Therapeutics.  
  • Completion of training and/or experience in attachment focused modalities such as Filial Therapy, Circle of Security, Parent-Child Interactive Therapy (PCIT), Connect Attachment Program, and/or Theraplay
  • Completion or in process of completion of the graduate certificate program in Complex Trauma from the Justice Institute of British Columbia.
  • Experience providing a variety of outreach and community-based work-related activities.  
  • Applicants who self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit with the required combination of education and experience
  • Experience working with children, youth, and families, impacted by complex developmental trauma in collaboration with their care team
