The Team
There are two teams in the CAS group, each team is directly supervised by a team leader and both teams report to the manager. The group is dedicated to providing advanced data analysis and statistical sampling methods to the auditors in the branch. You will have the chance to work closely with other auditors and senior auditors, to ensure audit effectiveness and efficiency within the branch.
The Role
In this role, you’ll be providing computer assisted audit techniques and support services to other auditors in the branch. The CAS auditor evaluates and audits complex tax-related systems, databases, and electronic transactions to determine tax compliance. The position uses specialized software to analyze data and perform statistical analysis.
This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with various teams within the branch and engage in innovative projects like the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in auditing.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Professional accounting designation CPA – CA, CGA, CMA, issued by a Canadian Accounting Association. (Note: If your designation was obtained from outside of Canada, you will need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through an applicable Canadian Accounting Association.)
- A minimum of 4 years’ audit and/or accounting experience.
- A minimum of 2 years’ audit experience in a consumption taxes environment. Note auditing in a consumption tax environment means the following:
- Review/verify records, transactions, and compliance practices to ensure correcting charging reporting and payment of GST/PST.
- The goal of audit should be to detect underreporting, overreporting, non-compliance or fraud.
- The job function must be primarily auditing in a consumption tax environment.
- Periodically reviewing a client’s GST/PST return does not meet the requirements.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
- A degree in computer science, information technology, statistics or CISA certification.
- PSTA, MFTA, CTA and TTA consumptive tax experience.
