The Team
The Nanaimo Law Courts team is a dedicated group of 24 professionals providing essential registry and in-court services to support the justice system. As part of an established team, you’ll collaborate with justice partners to ensure accurate case documentation, adjudication support, and seamless court operations. This team plays a critical role in promoting access to justice through its commitment to efficiency, fairness, and service excellence. The Role
As a Court Clerk, you will play a key role in supporting the justice system by providing court services and administrative support within the Registry. Your responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing court documents, recording proceedings, and ensuring accurate case file management. This role requires strong attention to detail and collaboration with judges, lawyers, justice partners, and the public. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent (GED)
  • 2 years of experience working in an office environment; OR 
  • A combination of 2 years of customer service, clerical duties, office experience and education.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in keyboarding, data entry, word processing, standard computer applications and software programs (e.g., Windows, MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Minimum of 40 words per minute (WPM) in keyboarding.

Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Experience in Court Programs and Applications (JUSTIN, CEIS, ARC, CTAS, CCD).
  • Experience with delivering Customer Service.
  • Experience as a court clerk and/or registry clerk.
  • 1 year of previous work experience in a court or legal environment.
  • Experience in accounting services.

About this Position:
This position has full time on-site requirements. 
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
