The Role
In this role, you’ll provide essential advice and guidance on the procurement process, ensuring that contracts are accurate, timely, and compliant with legal and policy requirements. Your work will have a direct impact, helping to keep important projects on track and ensuring timely payments. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Secondary school graduation (or equivalent), and a minimum of one (1) year clerical or administration experience
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
  • Experience with contract management and working with administration policies, standards and procedures
  • Experience in financial management including accounts payable, receivables and the general ledger, as well as computer assisted accounting and reporting systems
  • Experience in keyboarding, word processing, creating spreadsheets and working with standard computer applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

Preference may be given to candidates with one or more of the following:  

  • Experience facilitating, executing, and evaluating competitive bidding events (e.g. Invitation to Tender, Request for Proposal, Request for Quote, etc.)
  • Experience with supplier relationship management
  • Experience computing a variety of mathematical calculations and using applications to enter and retrieve data, performing accounting functions and producing financial reports
  • Experience with managing workload priorities and meeting deadlines

  • To be flexible regarding ongoing changes in responsibilities, assignments and corporate structures
  • To keep current on emerging issues
  • To take in-house training and certification as required
  • To fly in aircraft (fixed wing and rotary) as required
  • To work extended hours, including weekends, and be on standby with limited notice in accordance with the preparedness plan
  • To travel and overnight in remote locations where accommodations may vary as required
  • To participate in Incident Command System positions as assigned
  • To work under adverse or stressful conditions, including smoke, extreme heat and mountainous terrain in remote and isolated conditions

About this Position:
This is a temporary opportunity until March 28, 2025. This position may be extended or become permanent.
This position can be based in any of the following BC Wildfire Service offices:  Campbell River, Hope, Powell River, Parksville, Cobble Hill, Pemberton, Squamish, or Port Alberni. 
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
Flexible work options may not be available during emergency operations response periods. 
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
