The Team
The Mineral Titles Branch team operates within the Responsible Mining and Competitiveness Division (RMCD) of the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation. This dedicated group administers the Mineral Tenure Act and Coal Act, overseeing the registration and maintenance of mineral, placer mineral, and coal rights throughout the Province. Comprised of 20 collaborative and skilled problem solvers, the team is primarily based in Vancouver, with additional members located in Prince George, Kamloops, and Kimberley. They provide excellent service through their public-facing office in downtown Vancouver, where individuals can seek assistance, register documents, and make payments related to mineral titles. The Branch shares a vibrant workspace with staff from various Natural Resource ministries, offering you the chance to engage and collaborate with colleagues across the Government of BC’s Natural Resource Ministries.

The Role
The Office Assistant at the Mineral Titles Branch will play a crucial role in providing outstanding customer service at the downtown office. Reporting to the Executive Director, they will greet visitors, answer inquiries, and direct questions to the appropriate staff members. Acting as the key point of contact for all Natural Resource ministries (NRM) using the shared workspace, the Office Assistant will support administrative functions, such as ordering supplies, managing equipment shipments, and providing workspace orientations. Additionally, the Office Assistant will monitor workspace usage by the ministries and be the primary contact for booking inquiries. With at least 30 people regularly working at the downtown office and over 50 occasional workers, this position offers an exciting opportunity to engage with diverse teams, learn about the important work of Natural Resource ministries, and deliver exceptional service to both industry partners and the public.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Secondary School graduation (Dogwood, GED) and six (6) months related experience; OR
  • Evergreen and one (1) year related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Related experience includes the following:

  • Experience working in an office setting.
  • Providing client/customer service to a diverse range of individuals, organizations and industries
  • Multi-tasking, often in demanding and fast paced environments
  • Providing client service in confrontational or sensitive situations
  • Experience using standard office software including such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

This is a temporary opportunity until 03/31/2026. This position may be extended or become permanent.
