The Team:
Within the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, BC Parks’ Provincial Services Branch is a high-performing and engaged team that plays a key role in preserving conservation and ecological values, managing recreational visitation, and overseeing land management within park boundaries. With over 60 dedicated professionals across five units, this well-established team collaborates closely with Division and Ministry executives, stakeholders, partners, and contractors to make a meaningful impact. The Role:
In this transformative leadership role, you will guide the Provincial Services Branch in developing and implementing strategic legislation, policies, and programs that support the core objectives of BC Parks and the broader natural resource sector. You play a pivotal part in shaping the vision and direction of provincial services, providing strategic advice on existing and emerging issues, and driving improvements to meet performance targets. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements:
- University Degree in Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Studies, Geography, Public Administration, Business Administration, or other discipline directly related to the focus of the position.
- Senior level experience providing leadership, expertise, and direction in a medium to large sized public or private sector organization, preferably in integrated resource management, natural resource management, the management of large-scale recreation programs, or other related area.
- Experience developing and implementing corporate policy, operational practices, and performance measures.
- Experience leading and supervising a staff of professional and administrative employees including developing and evaluating performance goals, coaching, team building, and mentoring.
Preference may be given to those with one (1) or more of the following:
- Master’s degree in similar, related field.
- Experience, and direct involvement, in developing and negotiating complex cross-jurisdictional and multi-party partnership or other service agreements.
- Experience leading issues management and strategic problem solving, and providing leadership, expertise, and advice in the implementation of solutions to senior or executive management teams, staff, and clients.
- Experience developing and/or implementing legislation.
- Experience managing corporate budgets to defined fiscal and outcome based performance measures.

About this Position:
There is currently one (1) permanent, full time position available.
This position can be based in any office of BC Parks. The locations listed above are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity and are not a complete list of locations.
Depending on the successful candidate’s location, a bi-weekly isolation allowance may apply.
Flexible work options are available, subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
