The Team
As a member of the Office of the Superintendent of Health Profession and Occupation Oversight, you’ll join a newly established team working toward an impactful mandate: to support public safety through effective oversight of health profession and occupation regulatory colleges. Once fully staffed, the office will include approximately 21 dedicated professionals, including a Director of Board Appointments and Designations who oversees candidate evaluations and appointment recommendations for the Minister. This team collaborates closely with a range of stakeholders, including regulatory college staff, Ministry teams, and internal Directors, all with a shared commitment to building an equitable and inclusive program that sets a new standard in Canada.
The Role
In this impactful role, you’ll oversee board appointment and designation assessment projects, ensuring that processes align with policy to support public safety and regulatory accountability. You’ll lead efforts to assess and recommend board appointments, evaluate board performance, and provide strategic insights on the designation of additional health professions under the Act. As a leader, you’ll guide a team, fostering their growth and managing performance, while also building relationships with regulatory colleges and government partners. This new position offers a unique opportunity to shape a fair and merit-based appointment process that aligns with the Office’s commitment to public safety, equity, and accountability in health care.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Degree in business administration, public administration, law or related field or an equivalent combination of relevant experience* and education.
- Significant and progressive experience working in governance, policy, and/or the health care system in British Columbia.
- Experience at a senior level leading major projects of large scale and complexity that have multiple project delivery components.
*Relevant experience:
- Experience interpreting and applying legislation, regulations and/or policies.
- Experience related to the area of speciality.
- Experience establishing collaborative relationships with executive-level external partners.
- Experience leading and coaching multi-disciplinary senior level professionals and/or managers in the development and implementation of complex projects.
- Experience working in or with government, the public sector, and/or an independent office.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 3 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
