The Team
The Cannabis Secretariat develops, implements, and oversees policies for non-medical cannabis in British Columbia. Our goal is to support a strong, adaptable model for cannabis policy that serves B.C., Canada, and beyond. Key priorities include supporting a strong legal cannabis market while reducing illicit activity, increasing public awareness and education, building partnerships, and conducting research. We work closely with Indigenous communities and other stakeholders to enable policies that are inclusive, responsive, and effective, particularly in implementing and evaluating the impacts of cannabis legalization.
The Role
As a Senior Policy Manager, you will lead teams and initiatives to shape inclusive cannabis policies through collaboration with diverse partners across government and communities. This role offers a unique chance to drive forward-thinking policy in an evolving field that touches many areas of public interest.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Degree in public administration, business administration, law, economics, social sciences, or related field and three (3) years of *related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- *Related experience includes:
- Experience researching, analyzing and developing policy or comparably complex business advice.
- Experience leading, planning, coordinating and managing complex projects and work assignments.
Preference may be given to applicants:
- Who self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit.
- With substantial experience in a formal supervisory or project manager role.
- With substantial experience working on issues related to cannabis.
- With experience collaborating directly with First Nations and/or First Nations organizations.

About this Position:
This position can be based out of any of the locations listed above.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
Enhanced Security Screening will be required.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
