The Role
In this Manager, Budgeting and Financial Management role, you’ll have the exciting opportunity to help ministry clients achieve their business and financial goals while overseeing the ministry’s financial administration. Your work will directly impact the lives of children, youth, and families across BC by ensuring funds are allocated effectively and budgets support vital programs. This role is perfect for someone eager to make a real difference, grow professionally, and contribute to meaningful improvements in financial stewardship and community well-being.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Professional accounting designation (Chartered Professional Accountant), plus three (3) years *related experience; OR,
  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, Commerce, Business or Public Administration, or related field, plus three (3) years *related experience; OR,
  • Completion of Level 3 of the Financial Management Certificate program, plus five (5) years *related experience.
  • Recent (with last 2 years) experience in leadership and supervision of staff.
  • An equivalent combination of education, experience and training may be considered.

*Related experience can be achieved through a combination of any three (3) of the following:

  • Budget development, financial planning and analysis, budget monitoring, and lead the preparation of reports for organizational leaders.
  • Building and maintaining strategic relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Analysis of complex financial and business issues and preparing high-level briefings, documents, and presentations to support budget development and evaluation.
  • Analysis of financial data for variances and trends and recommendations of remedial action. 
  • Experience preparing forecast and financial reports for Executive, Organizational Leaders, or External Stakeholders, as required.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Professional accounting designation.

About this Position:
Amendment (November 20, 2024): Posting closing date extended to November 27, 2024.
There are currently 2 temporary opportunities available until June 30, 2025. These positions may be extended or become permanent.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 4 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
