The Compliance and Enforcement Unit within the Short-Term Rental Branch is a new, small, and collaborative team working under recently introduced legislation. This team is focused on bringing short-term rental units back into the housing market, helping to create more homes for people. By joining this team, you’ll be part of an evolving field with a direct impact on housing availability.

The Role
As a Compliance and Enforcement Officer, Inspection, you’ll be at the forefront of enforcing new legislation, tackling issues that affect housing availability in your community. You’ll respond to reports of non-compliance, issue fines, and recommend legal actions for more complex cases, all with the goal of returning short-term rentals to the housing market. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

    

  • Bachelor’s degree and six (6) months of related experience in the interpretation and application of legislation; OR,
  • Diploma and one (1) year of related experience in the interpretation and application of legislation; OR,
  • Certificate or completed post-secondary coursework and two (2) years of related experience in the interpretation and application of legislation; OR,
  • Secondary School graduation (Dogwood, GED) and three (3) years of related experience in the interpretation and application of legislation; OR,
  • Evergreen and four (4) years of related experience in the interpretation and application of legislation; OR,
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

About this Position:
Amendment (September 9): Ministry Branch / Division field updated to Housing and Land Use Policy Division.
This position can be based out of any of the locations listed above.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to five (5) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
