Comprising 13 dedicated staff within a larger branch of 42, you’ll collaborate with professionals in IT, database analysis, contracting, and more. The Role
As a Billing Application Analyst at the Timber Pricing Branch, you will provide crucial technical and business support, diagnosing and solving complex data and application issues to ensure seamless operations in the forestry sector. This role is vital in maintaining public oversight and facilitating business between the industry and the Ministry. You’ll be part of the Harvest Billing System, a cornerstone of the BC government, interfacing with multiple systems and adapting to evolving requirements. Your work will support the new Forestry Digital Services Program, modernizing legacy applications to meet the needs of Indigenous people, industry partners, NR ministries, and the public. With expert guidance and training, this position offers an exciting opportunity to drive innovation and impact in the forestry sector.
 

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Diploma in computer science, business or public administration, plus 2 years of related experience.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.

Related Experience Includes:

  • Experience with business applications including user support, data integrity, administrative functions, troubleshooting and user acceptance testing.
  • Experience participating in, or contributing to, application development projects from either an information technology or an operational business process perspective.
  • Recent, within the last 5 years, experience writing, editing and coordinating systems related documentation. 
  • Experience providing IT troubleshooting support and helping end users to use and understand computer hardware and software.
  • Experience with relational databases, table structures, data types and query languages.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Experience with Oracle and SQL databases, table structures, data types and query languages.
  • Experience or formal training in advanced Structured Query Language (SQL).
  • Experience in the use of support software such as XML Spy and SQL Developer.
  • Experience in the use of ECAS or GAS.

About this Position:
This position is based in Victoria.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
