The Team
The Private Committee Services (PCS) department within the Services to Adults (STA) Division is a dedicated and experienced team committed to supporting vulnerable adults who need assistance managing their personal, financial, or legal affairs. Working alongside legal, social services, and financial professionals, the team ensures that private committees understand their responsibilities, monitors their actions, and investigates concerns related to financial mismanagement, abuse, or neglect. By building strong community partnerships and advocating for best practices, the team plays a vital role in safeguarding the rights and well-being of vulnerable adults, fostering an inclusive and equitable approach to service delivery.

The Role
This role presents a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference by protecting the financial and personal well-being of vulnerable adults. As a member of a committed team of 12 professionals, you will be responsible for conducting secondary reviews and issuing “Certificates of Passing” for accounts submitted by private committees of estate. Your duties will include performing thorough financial reviews, investigating potential cases of financial or personal abuse, and ensuring that private committees fulfill their responsibilities in the best interests of the individuals they represent. This position is ideal for candidates who are passionate about advocacy, collaboration, and ethical stewardship, as it involves advocating for individuals who may be at risk, collaborating with diverse stakeholders, and promoting ethical financial management that respects the rights and dignity of all individuals.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • A Professional Accounting Designation (CPA-CA, CGA or CMA).
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience related to financial reviews and audits; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience reviewing the work of staff (regarding financial reviews/audits).
  • Experience in leading projects.

Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Experience in Public Practice work in an accounting firm environment.
  • Experience in identifying and evaluating the needs of vulnerable adults.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 4 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
A permanent appointment may result from this temporary appointment.
