The Team:
This Scaling Officer position is part of the Mackenzie Forest District Revenue Team, which is essential to Timber Pricing in BC. Our close-knit group of four brings together a mix of experience levels and partners regularly with waste and revenue specialists, as well as the Tenures Team, to support harvest compliance. We value flexibility and teamwork, and take pride in the important role we play in maintaining the financial integrity of the forest district.
The Role:
As an Interior Scaling Officer, you are at the forefront of ensuring timber is accurately valued and that the Crown receives appropriate revenue from harvested resources. You will conduct check scales and site inspections and participate in scaling and waste communities of practice. This role is where policy meets practice, ensuring that timber is properly scaled, billed, and managed according to provincial standards. This position offers the chance to travel to remote scale sites, providing a unique opportunity to explore the natural beauty of the Mackenzie area while contributing to one of the most impactful revenue roles in the forest sector.

Education and Experience Requirements:
- Valid Interior Scaler licence with required endorsements
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence
- Minimum of two (2) years of related Interior scaling operational experience
- Preference may be given to those with Waste experience

About this Position:
There is currently one (1) permanent, full time position available in Mackenzie.
This location receives a $44.49 bi-weekly isolation allowance.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to one (1) day at home per week subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
Applicants who do not fully meet the required qualifications may be considered for this position, but at a lower classification.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies in Mackenzie.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
