The Team
The Vancouver Coastal Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) team, is a compassionate and collaborative team that is dedicated to supporting children, youth, and families. The Role
As a CYMH Clinician on our team, you’ll play a vital role in providing direct clinical services including intake services, assessment, treatment, suicide risk assessment, safety plans and crisis intervention for children and youth from birth to age 18 and their families. You will work closely with local Indigenous Nations, community agencies, schools, hospitals and other ministry programs to provide comprehensive care, including individual, group and family therapy. You will have the opportunity to work with a supportive and passionate team to make a meaningful positive difference in the lives of children, youth, and their families facing emotional and behavioral challenges, with a strong focus on building relationships with the Indigenous community.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Masters in Counselling, Social Work, Educational Counselling, Clinical Counselling, Clinical Psychology or Child and Youth Care or comparable graduate degree at the Master’s level in a similar subject may be considered.
    • NOTE: If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
  • Minimum of one year full-time equivalent experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver’s license with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
 

  • Two years or more experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
  • Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.

About this Position:
There are currently 2 full time positions available:

  • 1 position is located in Bella Coola
  • 1 position is located in Bella Bella (Waglisla)

Note about location: These positions can be based in the other locations listed above (Gibsons, North Vancouver, Pemberton, Sechelt, Squamish) and must work on a travelling schedule working two (2) weeks on-site per month in either Bella Coola or Bella Bella (Waglisa), followed by two (2) weeks per month in your home location. The positions are on travel status two weeks a month while in Bella Coola or Bella Bella (Waglisla). Additional travel may be required to the communities of Klemtu and Wuikinuxv (Rivers Inlet).
Note about schedule: While these positions are full time, successful candidates may have the option to work part time.
Flexible work options are available for staff based in Bella Coola and Bella Bella (Waglisla); these positions may be able to work remotely up to 1 day at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement and operational requirements.
Applicants who do not fully meet the required qualifications may be considered for this position, but at a lower classification.

From fully exposed shorelines to rolling, forested hills and 1000-metre peaks, Hakai offers some of the most varied and scenic coastline in the province. Special features such as lagoons and reversing tidal rapids, beaches, all-weather anchorages, and an intricate network of coves, inlets, and channels make it an ideal area for boaters, anglers, scuba divers, naturalists – and experienced sea kayakers.
