The Team
The Vernon Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) team, is a compassionate and collaborative team dedicated to supporting children, youth, and families. Our team is comprised of Clinicians with multiple specialties and years of dedicated service to the community. Together, we bring energy, expertise, and a commitment to knowledge-sharing, working alongside families and community partners to deliver wrap-around support for children, youth, and their families. We provide a welcoming and respectful environment with opportunities for training and clinical discussions, empowering each team member to grow in their practice.
The Role
As a CYMH Clinician on our team, you’ll play a vital role in providing direct clinical services including intake services, assessment, treatment, suicide risk assessment, safety plans and crisis intervention for children and youth from birth to age 18 and their families. You will work closely with team members, community agencies, schools, hospitals and other ministry programs to provide comprehensive care, including individual, group and family therapy. You will have the opportunity to work with a supportive and passionate team to make a meaningful positive difference in the lives of children, youth, and their families facing emotional and behavioral challenges.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Masters in Counselling, Social Work, Educational Counselling, Clinical Counselling, Clinical Psychology or Child and Youth Care or comparable graduate degree at the Master’s level in a similar subject may be considered.
- NOTE: If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
- Minimum of one year full-time equivalent experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
- Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver’s license with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
- Two years or more experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
- Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.

About this Position:
There are currently 7 positions available as follows:
- 4 permanent positions located in Vernon.
- 2 temporary opportunities until March 31, 2026 located in Vernon. These positions may be extended or become permanent.
- 1 temporary opportunity until September 5, 2024 located in Penticton. This position may be extended or become permanent.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies in Vernon and Penticton.
