The Team
The Emergency Support Services (ESS) Program Unit is a dedicated and compassionate team within the Provincial Response Programs Branch, playing a vital role in supporting British Columbians during disasters. This established team of seven works collaboratively with various roles across the organization, including Program Coordinators, Policy Analysts, and Finance and Planning units, to develop policies, tools, and processes that strengthen emergency response efforts. The Role
This Emergency Support Services Coordinator is responsible for coordinating key activities and resources to support the planning and delivery of ESS, including managing budgets, records, partner engagement, and crisis case management. The position plays a critical role in ensuring effective emergency responses that directly impact British Columbians in times of disaster. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Degree in business administration, public administration, emergency management, or related field* AND one (1) year of related experience; OR
  • Diploma in business administration, public administration, emergency management, or related field* AND two (2) years of related experience; OR
  • Certificate in business administration, public administration, emergency management, or related field* AND three (3) years of related experience; OR
  • Secondary school graduation AND four (4) years of related experience*; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

*Related experience must include:

  • Analysing, monitoring and evaluating reporting resources, processes, and progress.
  • Coordinating implementation of plans affecting internal and external partners.
  • Influencing professionals and/or leaders through processes to develop and implement complex projects.
  • Managing highly confidential, sensitive, and/or diverse records.
  • Expenditure analysis, monitoring and reporting.

Preference may be given to applicants who have any of the following:

  • Experience working with and engaging with First Nations communities and/or organizations.
  • Experience working with Emergency Support Services programs.
  • Project management certification / designation.
  • Experience working with MS Dynamics.

Applicants must be willing and able to:

  • Be flexible regarding ongoing changes in responsibilities, assignments, and corporate structures.
  • Work on-call and work extended hours during emergency activations. 
  • Travel occasionally.

About this Position: 
This is a temporary opportunity until November 30, 2026. This position may be extended or become permanent.
Remote work is allowed, this position can work up to full time from their home in British Columbia subject to an approved telework agreement. The locations listed above are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity and are not a complete list of locations.
