Position Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Engineering Lead to join our Digital Technology development team. This role is designed for an individual with a robust development background who will collaborate closely with our development team to enhance our quality engineering practices. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in standardizing code branching norms, improving code review processes, and ensuring comprehensive testing and compliance across our projects.
The Automation Engineering Lead will drive the evolution of our testing practices from traditional methods to modern, robust automation that emphasizes unit and integration testing. This individual will be accountable for delivering on business-aligned OKRs, such as raising overall code quality, accelerating time to production, increasing code coverage, and reducing defects in later development phases.

o Introduce processes for identifying and managing technical debt within the delivery pipeline.
o Work with the team to prioritize technical debt remediation alongside feature development.
o Integrate security and compliance testing into the development process.
o Ensure that all deliverables meet regulatory requirements and industry standards.
o Evaluate current testing practices to ensure that solutions meet requirements and cover all scenarios.
o Collaborate with the team to identify gaps in testing and recommend improvements.
o Advocate for and implement shift-left testing strategies to identify defects early in the development lifecycle.
o Assess and implement code coverage tools to ensure 100% code coverage across all projects.
o Work with the team to establish effective code review practices, including repo ownership, roles, and responsibilities.
o Enforce adherence to code quality standards and best practices.
o Provide training sessions for team members on quality engineering principles, code review practices, and testing methodologies.
o Foster a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the team.
o Collaborate with the development team to understand, update, and standardize code branching practices.
o Define and document branching strategies that align with industry best practices.
o Define and maintain an organization-wide test automation roadmap, championing unit and integration testing as the foundation for improving coverage and quality.
o Remain current with modern testing frameworks, tools, and best practices, leading the shift away from traditional browser-centric scripting to developer-oriented testing frameworks.
o Collaborate across multiple development and testing teams to ensure a unified, scalable automation strategy that aligns with major product roadmaps and engineering initiatives.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
· Proven experience in software development and quality engineering.
· Strong understanding of code branching strategies and version control systems (e.g., Git).
· Experience with automated testing frameworks and code coverage tools.
· Familiarity with security testing practices and compliance standards.
· Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
· Ability to mentor and train team members effectively.
