Position Description:
This role is hybrid and requires you to be in our downtown Toronto office (250 Yonge Street) / client office (Markham, ON) 3 times per week – subject to change at any time.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
• Develop and implement data architecture strategies that align with the company’s business goals.
• Lead the design and implementation of data solutions, ensuring they meet performance, security, and scalability requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data solutions with existing systems and processes.
• Monitor and optimize data architecture to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Stay updated with emerging data technologies and assess their potential impact on the organization.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior architects and other team members.
• Ensure compliance with data governance and regulatory requirements.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Define and maintain the enterprise data architecture framework, standards, and principles.
• Create and manage data models, data flow diagrams, and other architectural artifacts.
• Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate them into technical requirements.
• Oversee the implementation of data solutions, ensuring they align with the overall architecture and business strategy.
• Conduct regular reviews of data architecture to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes.
• Develop and maintain data roadmaps that outline the future state of the enterprise data architecture.
• Lead efforts to modernize legacy data systems and migrate them to modern platforms.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all data solutions.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Extensive experience in enterprise data architecture, data modeling, and data management.
• Proficiency in data platform capabilities, data lifecycle management, and data retention strategies.
• Strong knowledge of cloud computing, data science platforms, and modern development practices.
• Experience with data migration from legacy systems to modern platforms.
• Familiarity with tools such as Snowflake, AWS, Informatica, Collibra, dbt, Qlik/BO, SAS, and Cloudera.
• Proven track record in solution architecture, roadmaps, and architecture design and implementation.
• Strong understanding of end-to-end project lifecycle methodologies, particularly agile.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to guide and develop junior team members.
• Financial acumen to support the development of business cases and inform key design decisions.
• Ability to balance long-term strategic goals with short-term operational needs.
