The Team
The Immigration Programs Branch (IPB) contributes to economic development and innovation across all regions of BC by working closely with stakeholders to provide flexible, client-focused immigration pathways, referrals and information.  The PNP allows the province to nominate foreign workers and entrepreneurs for permanent immigration, based on BC’s labour market and economic development needs and priorities. The Anti-Fraud and Investigations Unit plays a vital role in conducting investigations pertaining to fraud and misrepresentation, and internal misconduct, while also providing training and expertise to staff. Their work is crucial in supporting the Province’s economic strategic goals and mitigating fraud risks.

The Role
This position offers a unique opportunity for experienced investigators to engage in meaningful work that directly impacts the Province’s economy and the lives of immigrants. 

Qualifications:
Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Minimum three (3) consecutive years of recent (within the last five years) related investigative work experience (must include all of the following):

    • Experience conducting detailed investigations in compliance and regulatory enforcement.
    • Experience in planning, initiating, and managing complex investigations.
    • Experience developing and implementing project plans.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Five (5) or more consecutive years of recent (within the last seven years) related investigative work experience.
  • Investigative work experience related to immigration and/or fraud.
  • Experience developing and assessing business plans.

Provisos

  • Travel is a requirement of the position.  
  • Must possess and maintain a valid BC Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Must undertake frequent local travel (BC Lower Mainland) and occasional travel to regional locations throughout the province of British Columbia.  
  • Work is performed in both a typical office environment and on location.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to four (4) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
This position is excluded from union membership.
