Position Description:

CGI is seeking an experienced API Engineer to design, develop, and optimize API solutions within AWS. In this role, you will focus on building secure, scalable, and high-performance APIs, ensuring seamless integration across clients multi-account AWS infrastructure. Your expertise will be critical in migrating legacy middleware APIs to cloud-native solutions, supporting our clients digital transformation initiatives.

You are skilled at designing and development of API solutions and Lambda functions that support complex, large-scale environments. Your deep networking knowledge and problem-solving skills enable you to tackle the most challenging network-related issues, ensuring seamless connectivity and optimal performance.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• API Development: Design, develop, and maintain APIs with a strong focus on scalability, performance, and security.
• AWS Cloud-Native Implementation: Convert legacy middleware APIs to AWS Lambda functions, ensuring efficient integration with Amazon SQS and other AWS services.
• Develop and execute migration strategies for moving APIs from on-premises environments to AWS cloud-native platforms.
• Integration and Deployment: Work closely with DevOps teams to automate API deployments using CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
• Performance Optimization: Optimize API performance through caching, load balancing, and other AWS services, ensuring minimal latency and high availability.
• Security Best Practices: Implement security best practices for API development, including OAuth, JWT, and AWS IAM policies.
• Documentation and Standards: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for APIs, including architecture diagrams, integration guides, and coding standards.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, DevOps engineers, and product managers, to ensure successful delivery of projects.
• Troubleshooting and Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting for API-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime and quick resolution.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Experience: 5-7 years of experience in API development and architecture, with a focus on cloud-native environments.
• AWS Expertise: In-depth experience with AWS services, particularly AWS Lambda, SQS, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and other relevant services.
• Middleware to Lambda Migration: Proven experience in converting middleware APIs to AWS Lambda functions with successful SQS integrations.
• Programming Skills: Strong proficiency in languages such as Python, Node.js, or Java, with a focus on serverless application development.
• API Security: Deep understanding of API security standards and best practices.
• Cloud Migration: Extensive experience with cloud migration strategies, particularly in transitioning from on-premises to cloud-native environments.
• DevOps Collaboration: Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices, including CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation), and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex API issues.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Certifications: AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Developer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are a plus.

Preferred Skills:
• Experience with microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools like AWS CloudWatch, Datadog, or Prometheus.
• Knowledge of agile development methodologies.
