The Team
The newly formed Fire Services team at BC Wildfire Service, consisting of 12 members such as a superintendent, project coordinator, administrative support, logistics officers, and structure protection specialists, is dedicated to protecting people and property from wildfire risks. Working virtually across the province and collaborating with various partners, the team fosters inclusivity, accountability, and a proactive work ethic.

The Role
The Logistics Officer ensures prepares for and supports logistics during the response season, helping manage assets and coordinate structure protection deployment across six fire centres. This role offers the chance to be part of a growing provincial program, with opportunities to refine processes and develop valuable logistics expertise.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Grade 12 graduation or equivalent.
  • Experience creating and managing spreadsheets, and working with standard computer applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). 
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence.
  • Preference may be given to candidates who have completed training in contract and procurement management.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with experience using Incident Command System (ICS)
  • Preference may be given to candidates with experience working in emergency response operations

  • To be flexible regarding ongoing changes in responsibilities, assignments, and corporate structures.
  • To keep current on emerging issues.
  • To take in-house training and certification as required.
  • To fly in aircraft (fixed wing and rotary) as required.
  • To work extended hours, including weekends, and be on standby with limited notice in accordance with the preparedness plan.
  • To travel and/or overnight in remote locations where accommodations may vary as required.
  • To participate in Incident Command System positions as assigned.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.  Flexible work options may not be available during emergency operations response periods.
