The City of Abbotsford is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Highway 1 Program Manager to join our Transportation Department on a 3-year term. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in coordinating the City’s involvement in the Fraser Valley Highway 1 Corridor Improvement Project (FVH1CIP), working closely with the Ministry of Transportation and Transit (MOTT) and internal stakeholders.
As the Highway 1 Program Manager, you will act as the City’s lead liaison with MOTT project managers, ensuring alignment between provincial and municipal infrastructure initiatives. You will provide engineering input, coordinate internal City projects and traffic impacts, and represent the City’s interests in planning, design, and construction discussions. Your responsibilities will include coordinating meetings and communications between City departments and MOTT, addressing design and construction issues related to the FVH1CIP, reviewing project plans, cost estimates, and engineering drawings, and preparing reports and correspondence for Council and senior leadership. You will also manage general correspondence and inquiries related to the project.
This role requires strong project coordination and stakeholder engagement skills, as well as the ability to resolve complex engineering and project-related issues. You will work closely with internal teams such as Senior Engineers, Project Engineers, Operations, and Public Engagement, and engage with external stakeholders including MOTT project managers, consulting engineers, contractors, and the public. You will also provide updates and respond to inquiries from Council.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in British Columbia
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence
- Minimum of 7 years of related experience in transportation or civil engineering
