Position Description:

This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our downtown Toronto and/or Client office at a minimum 2 days per week – subject to change at any time.

A Senior Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst handles Testing ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality test deliverables in alignment with organizational standards. They will provide strategic direction, plan, and scope testing activities, estimate testing effort and duration, and determine resource and environment requirements. This role focuses on ensuring that test deliverables are produced on time with the highest level of quality. A Senior QA is responsible and provides a comprehensive oversight and quality assurance throughout the software development lifecycle.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities

• Review requirements, specifications, and other deliverables for testability and aid in scoping the testing effort.
• Find, analyze, interpret, and define the required tests for new and/or modified products or components, based on developed requirements and design documentation.
• Develop, support, and comply with testing processes, including tool usage and test methodology.
• Create and execute test plans and test cases, including prioritization and review of test cases produced by QA & Testing Analysts.
• Maintain test environments and necessary test data for test execution.
• Update and report test results in the test management tool and create traceability matrices.
• Identify and create necessary test data for test execution aligned with requirements or changes.
• Log defects into the defect management tool with clear descriptions, review defects logged by QA & Testing Analysts, and perform basic triaging per the defect management workflow.
• Participate in defect triage meetings and report test status to the QA Lead.
• Contribute to the development, maintenance, and refinement of internal quality control and reliability programs.
• Apply software testing practices, concepts, and principles throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Identify, collect, analyze, and report meaningful test metrics and proactively use those metrics.
• Influence the scope, direction, and testing methods required for each project.

• Demonstrate effective management of time, expenses, and achieve an average utilization of higher than 90%.

Quality Service Delivery

• Engage early in project or product delivery efforts, including estimations and solution design processes.
• Ensure quality service delivery by providing oversight for junior QA resources and focusing on scope, quality, and schedule.
• Ensure compliance with the overall test strategy, test plan, and test processes, including tools usage and defect management.

Knowledge Management

• Demonstrate compliance with the stated test framework and methodology.
• Manage intellectual property effectively and share information among team members.
• Optimize test deliverables for higher efficiency and ensure updated resumes with the latest projects and experiences in the RM tool.
• Promote innovation by conceiving and presenting ideas to enhance effectiveness and efficiency and implementing innovative ideas into projects or product releases.

Continuous Learning and Adaptability

• Willingness to stay updated with industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements in the wealth management domain.
• Ability to adapt testing strategies and methodologies to evolving business requirements and regulatory landscapes.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

Key Skills

• 5+ years of experience in the Quality Assurance in the financial industry
• Understanding of financial products, investment strategies, and regulatory requirements in the wealth management industry.
• Familiarity with asset management, portfolio management, financial planning, and wealth advisory services.
• Experience in testing financial calculations, reporting functionalities, data validation, etc.
• Strong analytical skills with excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Attention to detail, a challenging and inquiring mind, and tenacity; ability to conduct thorough testing to ensure the accuracy and reliability of wealth management applications.
• Ability to translate business requirements into test scenarios and communicate test results effectively.
• Excellent understanding of the software release process and different testing methodologies (functional, regression, integration, client readiness, UAT, etc.)
• Hands-on experience with JIRA, Confluence, Parasoft SOATest, SOAPUI, or similar toolsets.
• Ability to query databases and understand complex data structures related to financial transactions, client portfolios, and regulatory reporting.
• Ability in using testing tools and frameworks relevant to wealth management systems.
• Knowledge of automation testing tools for regression testing and performance testing.
• Strong critical thinking skills to diagnose and troubleshoot issues encountered during testing.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and implement effective solutions.
• Ability to communicate in both technical and business terms.
• Ability to multi-task and manage various responsibilities.

Certifications:

• CSTE (Certified Software Test Engineer) by QAI
• CMST (Certified Manager of Software Testing) by QAI
• CMSQ (Certified Manager of Software Quality) by QAI
• CTFL (Certified Tester Foundation Level) by ISTQB
• CTAL (Certified Tester Advanced Level) by ISTQB
• Financial industry certification (CSC, CPH, CFP, CIBA, ICB, or CFA) is a plus.
